Posted in Early Years Whole school news Year 1/2 Year 3/4 Year 5/6 on Monday, 29th June 2020

Every summer at Bawtry Mayflower all the children enjoy taking part in an art week. We would love you to get involved at home this year.  The theme of the art week is ‘The Natural World’. We will focus on the artist Andy Goldsworthy.

Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist and is known for his sculptures and photography. He is an environmentalist, which is someone who wants to protect the environment around them. Andy makes sculptures with natural materials on sites in the UK and around the world. He has made them in forests, fields, cities, lakes and fields. They are known as land art.

We would love to see as many of you as possible creating your own Andy Goldsworthy inspired art. All you need to do to take part is to go outside and find natural resources and get creative. You could use:

  • Sticks
  • Stones
  • Leaves
  • Shells

Here are some ideas to help you:

We are going to create wonderful art displays in school for September. To make sure your art work is included, please upload a photograph of your sculpture to the Kids Zone by the 10th July. We can’t wait to see your creations.
