Happy Friday Year 1/2!

Here are today's learning challenges:

Please access these lessons if you choose but remember that there is no pressure to do so. It is more important that children are happy and feel safe and secure. Playing board games, baking, going for walks and spending time as a family are all vital learning opportunities and will benefit your children hugely.

This half term, we are exploring the work of Roald Dahl!

We love stories! And we especially love the weird and wacky stories of Roald Dahl.

Why not take a tour of the Roald Dahl Museum here:

This week we are focusing on The BFG.

Each day we will be learning about a different part of the story and there will an activity too.

Here's today's challenge:

Listen to Chapter 21 of the story:

Think about when you have faced something unknown or difficult – perhaps competing in a sport, or trying out a new activity for the first time, or learning something challenging in school.

How did you feel before you started?

Write down each feeling on a separate slip of paper.

Put two hula-hoops on the floor (or draw/make 2 circles).

Label one hoop ‘Positive Feelings’ and the other ‘Negative Feelings’.

Place each of your written feelings in the appropriate hoop.

Why do we sometimes experience these negative feelings when we face challenges?

We also have positive feelings about trying new things.

If you felt like this before facing a challenge, do you think you would be more or less likely to succeed?

Believing in yourself and your own ability is a big step towards overcoming challenges – it gives you the confidence you need to have a go!

What new things are you going to try?

Don't forget to post your work in the Kid Zone.
