Well done Year 6

Our Year 6 children have completed their SATs this week. They have shown amazing determination and maturity throughout; we expected nothing less! They always make us so proud with their fantastic attitude and positive approach to everything they do. Well done Year 6!

Year 6 Austerfield Residential meetings Tuesday 17th May 3.10pm and 5pm

As advised on the original Austerfield trip letter, we will be holding a parent’s meeting next Tuesday 17th May at 3.10pm and 5pm to discuss the arrangements for the residential. Please wait on the upper playground and a member of staff will let you into the building ready for the start time of the meeting.

We would like the Year 6 children to also attend please so that any questions they may have can be answered at the same time.

Training Day Friday 27th May

Don't forget that Friday 27th May is a Training Day and school will therefore be closed to pupils.

Parking on the streets surrounding school

We have been contacted by a resident of South Avenue who has been unable to exit their driveway this week due to a parent/carer parking across it. Could we please ask parents/carers to ensure they park considerately and safely when dropping off and collecting children please.

The resident concerned has informed us that they have contacted Doncaster Council and the local PCSO.

Attendance Letters

We continue to monitor attendance closely and will be sending letters out by email via ParentPay at the beginning of next week to those parents/carers whose child's attendance currently stands at below 95%. Any absence which relates to a positive case of Covid-19 has been discounted, so if you receive a letter and your child has previously tested positive for Covid-19, this absence will not be included in the attendance percentage.

We appreciate that children are ill and guidance has been provided by Public Health for children to remain away from school if they are unwell, but we have a statutory duty to send these letters. If you do receive a letter next week and wish to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to ring or call into the school office.

PTA

Thank you to those parents/carers who came to the PTA meeting last night. It was lovely to see some new faces and some really good ideas were shared. Some dates have been put in the diary for some PTA events before the end of the Summer term; please see the details below in the 'Diary Dates' section.

In preparation for the uniform sale which will take place on Thursday 26th May, if your child has outgrown any of their uniform and you would be willing to donate it to school we would be most grateful. This can also include PE kit as well as uniform. If you do have any items that you wish to donate, please bring them to the school office by next Friday, 20th May.

No Year 1/2 Creative Club or Year 3/4 Sports Club Thursday 16th June and Thursday 30th June

Due to staff training, there will be no Year 1/2 Creative Club or Year 3/4 Sports Club running on Thursday 16th June and Thursday 30th June.

News from Reception

This week, the Reception children took part in a yoga session as part of their PE work. The yoga session had a dinosaur theme and followed the adventures of Tiny the T-Rex. The children had a great time and joined in really well.

Some children wanted to share with us their thoughts on the yoga session.

Oscar really enjoyed making the rainbow pose. He told us how he tried really hard to copy the moves that the yoga teacher was doing on the screen. The yoga session made Oscar happy as it was really good.

Ella enjoyed doing the cave pose the most. Ella said she felt like she was doing a rhythm with the poses.

James really liked the story of the little dinosaur. He especially liked the part when the little dinosaur went to the dentist because he was eating too much sugar.

Maddison's favourite part was doing the crab pose and moving from side to side.

All the children we spoke to agreed that they would like to do more yoga in the future. Some of them take part in yoga sessions at home and use similar videos to the ones used in school.

The children have also been using the dinosaur theme for their rainbow challenges this week.

Congratulations!

We have some fabulous news to share with everyone. Mrs Mundy, one of our Foundation Stage teachers, has had her baby! Orla was born last week and has settled in really well to the Mundy family. We hope you will join us in sending all our love and best wishes to Mrs Mundy and her family. We can't wait until she brings Orla in to visit!
