Sports Day cancelled Tuesday 19th July

As you will know, the temperature next week is set to soar. As a result, there will be no Sports Day next Tuesday.

After School Clubs have now finished

As advised on the original letters, this week was the last week for this term's After School Clubs so there will be no clubs for the last 2 weeks of term.

Uniform orders for September - deadline today

If you would like to order any uniform ready for September, please log on to ParentPay to order your items today as today is the deadline. The uniform will be available to collect on Monday 5th September 2022 or Tuesday 6th September 2022 as these are training days and school will be closed to pupils on these days.

We cannot guarantee that any orders received after today will be available for collection before the children start back in September, so it is really important that you order on time.

If you order any uniform and the item is for your child to have this term rather than for September, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk to let us know.

Sponsored Walk

Although our sponsored walk had to be cut short due to the weather this week, we hope everyone that joined us enjoyed being back together within school. The children enjoyed it and we have already had a huge amount of sponsor money handed in. If your child has received sponsor money and you haven't had chance to send it in to school yet, we would appreciate it if this could be returned by next Friday, 22nd July please. We will then count the money and share the total on our last blog of this school year (Thursday 28th July). Thank you to everyone as always for all your support.

Reception Visit to Austerfield

This week, our Reception children spent the day at Austerfield Study Centre. They took part in a variety of activities and had a brilliant time. Here is what some of the Reception children thought about their visit.

Thomas - "Some bugs swim and some walk on land. We went hunting and found lots of fire ants. It was a big nest and the fire ants were carrying some baby eggs".

Bret - "I went bug hunting. The bugs were under the stones. I went fishing for fish and bugs".

Florence - "I went bug hunting and I found a slug".

Phoebe - "We dipped our nets in a pond and found some bugs".

It would appear the bug hunting was a massive hit with our Reception children!

News from Year 1/2

In year 1/2, in topic, we have been learning all about the Titanic, as one of our Amazing Events. The children have absolutely loved this topic. In art we linked to this learning, creating portholes as if we were on the Titanic ourselves. There were lots of tricky jobs including cutting, painting and designing our portholes and the view we would see. We created some fantastic pieces! Well done Year 1/2.

Guitar tuition

We have received confirmation this week that Miss Hill will be returning to us in September to provide our guitar tuition. We will therefore be contacting those parents/carers next week who confirmed that their child would like to start or continue with guitar lessons from September to discuss payment for these. As notified previously, we will require the full payment for these lessons prior to them starting; the payment item will be set up on ParentPay as a reducing balance, meaning that parents/carers can pay all at once or in instalments up to the deadline (this will be notified separately to parents/carers).

We are aware that refunds still need to be provided to those parents/carers whose children have had guitar lessons this year due to some sessions being cancelled. We are just finalising the details of the refund and will email parents/carers involved next week to notify them of the amount of the refund and when this will be processed. We had hoped to provide these this week, but this has not been possible so thank you to parents/carers for their patience.

School Disco Tuesday 26th July

Our wonderful PTA will be holding their end of year disco on Tuesday 26th July. A letter will be coming home with the children shortly, but please see the poster below for the timings etc.

Congratulations!

We are so proud of Betsy in Year 5. She recently had her first flute grading and we are pleased to share that she not only passed her grading, but did so with a Distinction! This is absolutely amazing Betsy, particularly for someone so young! Huge congratulations - you clearly have a natural talent for the flute and have also put in lots of hard work to achieve this. You should be so proud of yourself.

Oliver in Year 2 has shared with us some pictures of his caterpillars. They grew very fast in just a few days, turning into cocooned chrysalis which in turn emerged as butterflies. Oliver released the butterflies last weekend. Oliver's mum said it was absolutely amazing to watch their transformation from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies.

Scarlett in Reception enjoyed her first swimming lesson last week. She received 2 certificates - well done Scarlett! We hope you will bring your next certificate in to show us so that we can share it with everyone on our weekly blog.

Bag 2 School clothing collection in September

Our PTA have organised a Bag 2 School clothing collection for when we return to school in September. The bags will be coming home with the children during the first week back in September and the company will be coming to collect the filled bags on Thursday 15th September. The bags are weighed and a payment is received based on the weight of the items.

School lunch menu for week commencing 18th July 2022
