Class Photo Orders

We have received some of the class photos back in school this week. We are just waiting for the remainder to be delivered at the beginning of next week and we will then send them home with the children. We will send an email to parents the day before the photos are coming home to ensure that parents/carers are aware of when they will be sent home.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

As advised in our email earlier this week and in the letter the children brought home, we would like to invite parents/carers of our Year 6 children to their leaving assembly next Thursday, 28th July at 2.15pm.

Please arrive at the school office from 2.05pm ready for a 2.15pm start. You will be required to sign in and then a member of staff will take you through to where the assembly is being held.

School dinner payments for children in Year 3 and above

The price of a school meal for children in Years 3 to 6 will be increasing to £2.60 from September. If your child is currently in Year 2 and will continue to have school dinners when they move into Year 3, payment for school dinners will need to be made on ParentPay (unless you are entitled to means-tested benefits and your child is entitled to a free school meal funded by the Local Authority).

Payment for school meals should always be made in advance of the meals being taken. Payments can be made as far in advance as you wish. The amount paid then remains on your child's dinner money account on ParentPay and each time they have a school meal, the cost for that meal is deducted from the balance.

We have had quite a few accounts in significant arrears this year. We would appreciate it if, going forward, everyone makes their payments on time to ensure the office staff are not having to chase for payment. There is a facility to use Auto Top-Up on ParentPay, whereby you can set an automatic payment to the value of your choice to come out of your bank account when your child's dinner money account reaches a limit that you specify. This then ensures you don't have to remember to top up your child's dinner money account, as the system will do it automatically for you when required.

If you currently owe any dinner money, please ensure you log in to ParentPay as soon as possible please to clear the outstanding balance.

School Disco Tuesday 26th July

Our wonderful PTA will be holding their end of year disco next Tuesday, 26th July. Your child should have brought home a letter this week regarding this. If you would like your child to attend, please ensure they bring the reply slip from the bottom of the letter and £1 in to their class teacher on Monday. Quite a few children have returned their slip without the £1, so if this applies to your child please ensure you send them with their £1 on Monday.

News from Reception

We are very proud of Olive. She read to her friends without any help from her teachers. Reception enjoyed listening to Olive at story time and praised her reading abilities. She has worked very hard in phonics and she is reading with fluency and speed. Great work Olive!

Year 6 Austerfield residential

Our Year 6 children have had an amazing time at Austerfield over the last 3 days. They have taken part in a wide range of activities, including survival skills and have had a festival and a camp fire. They have been very busy from the moment they arrived until the moment they left! They have survived on very little sleep (the staff who accompanied them have probably gone to bed as we write this to catch up on their sleep!!), but have had lots of fun and have created some fantastic memories of their last trip with Bawtry Mayflower.

Recognition Board Success

This week, we continue to celebrate those children who have earned their badge recently due to consistently going above and beyond in the following areas:

Work Hard

Be Kind

Be Respectful

Well done everyone who earned their badge this week. We know some children have their names under 2 of the categories on the board and are trying their very hardest to get on the board for their last category, so we hope to share their success with you next week.

Congratulations!

Ella in Year 4 and her brother James, who is in Reception, are so very proud of their dad and wanted to share this with everyone. Their dad was recently awarded the Queen's Medal for Innovation for a machine that he designed during Covid. He received his award from none other than the future king, Prince Charles!  It was such an exciting and proud moment for the whole family and we're so happy that Ella and James wanted to share this with us.

Darcy in Year 2 is one of our many super swimmers and recently took part in a swimming gala. She took part in 4 races with 6 competitors in each. For the front crawl, Darcy came second and received a silver medal. Darcy came first in the backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke races and was awarded a gold medal for each race. She is very proud of herself and really enjoyed the Gala. Darcy made us laugh as she said she didn't think that she'd done too bad considering at one point she didn't even want to take part!! Well done Darcy - what a brilliant achievement!

Quentin in Year 2 also loves his swimming and has recently received his Stage 6 certificate, That's brilliant Quentin - keep up the hard work! We're sure it won't be long before you're bringing your next certificate in to show us!

Robyn in Reception has recently received her Stage 5 and Stage 6 certificates at her swimming lessons. That's brilliant Robyn - you're doing so well and have obviously been working very hard at your swimming lessons. Well done!

Phoebe, who is also in Reception. was recently awarded her Level 2 swimming certificate and badge. Wow Phoebe, you're doing so well and we know you really enjoy your swimming lessons. Thank you for sharing your success with us.

Annabelle in Year 4 achieved her yellow belt at her last Kickboxing grading a couple of weeks ago and is so pleased with herself. She had to complete a number of set moves and techniques including kicking, blocking and punching amongst others and is now working towards her orange belt! Well done Annabelle - you are doing such a fantastic job with your kickboxing. Keep up the hard work!
