Half Term next week

We hope you manage to enjoy half term next week, despite the further restrictions which Tier 3 brings with it. Please stay safe and well and we will see everyone back at school on Monday 2nd November.

Letter from Mrs Jenkinson and Mrs Walker

Please see below a letter which was emailed out to parents earlier today via ParentPay. A copy of this letter is also available in the Letters Home section of our school website.

Reminders about drop off/collection procedures

Thank you for continuing to adhere to our procedures around the school site. These procedures for pick up and drop off are there to minimise the risk of the spread of infection within our community.

Please remember:

  • Arrive at (or just before) your allocated pick up/drop off time
  • Face coverings are required on school grounds
  • Socially distance AT LEAST 2 metres whilst on the school site
  • Follow the one way system
  • Only 1 person is allowed on the school site for each family - this includes older siblings who attend secondary school.
  • If you are collecting children from KS2, remember to stay 2m apart from other parents and their children as you are leaving the school site on the path past the bike shelter. Please also make sure children are not running across the grass.
  • If you are collecting from the KS1 playground, please do not sit on the benches or allow your children to play on these.
  • When leaving the school site via Spring Gardens, please ensure that you do not congregate close to the gate if waiting for siblings. Please ensure that there is sufficient space for adults and children to exit the Spring Gardens gate whilst ensuring that a distance of AT LEAST 2 metres can be maintained.

Children bringing a pencil case to school please

As advised on last week's blog, we have asked the children in Years 1 to 6 to bring a small pencil case to school to store their personal equipment in while they are here. The pencil case should be small as it will only need to hold a couple of pens, pencils and a small ruler; the teachers will have given the children more information about this. School will provide all of the equipment to go in the pencil case so please only send an empty case in. The case will then be left in school. We are asking that all children have pencil cases by the first Monday after half term.

If anyone is struggling to provide their children with a pencil case, please get in touch with school.

Hand Cream

Some parents have expressed concerns about their children’s hands becoming sore due to increased handwashing. We have decided that, should you wish, you may send a small tube of hand cream in with your child should you wish them to use it during the school day. This will need to be kept in your child’s bag and must not be shared with anyone else. We will not take responsibility for finding any hand cream which is lost.

Cauliflower Cards

Some parents have asked recently about whether the children will be taking part in the Cauliflower Cards project. For those that are new to school, the children usually produce artwork during the Autumn Term, which is then used to produce Christmas Cards via a company called Cauliflower Cards which parents can then purchase. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances and the need to minimise what comes in and out of school, we have been unable to take part in this project this year.

Secondary School Applications

If your child is in Year 6, the deadline for applications for Secondary school is 31st October 2020. It is really important that parents make the application before this deadline, as it is highly unlikely that your child will be offered a place at their chosen school should the application be submitted late. If you live in Doncaster, please follow the link below to the Doncaster Council Schools Admission page.

If you live outside of the Doncaster Council area, you must apply via your local Council Admissions team, regardless of which school you wish to apply for.

Halloween & Bonfire Night Drawing Competition

Please see the information and poster below regarding a competition being run by St Leger Homes.

We know that we are doing things differently this year for Halloween and Bonfire night – but to give the young people in our homes something fun to be involved in we are holding a competition.

We are wanting as many of the children and young people of Doncaster to get involved, sending in their completed pictures, be creative and imaginative! And you could win a prize! £10 to spend on something amazing just for drawing a picture and sending to us!

The competition closes on 5 November and the winner will be announced in our tenant publication ‘It’s Our Community’ on 6 November. We share the publication on our social media pages.

Send all your entries to

Can’t wait to see all the amazing pictures!

School lunch menu for week commencing 2nd November 2020

Please see below the menu for the first week back after half term. As advised on last week's blog, we will be returning to a choice menu for lunches after half term.  If you would like your child to change from bringing a packed lunch from home to having a school lunch we require one weeks notice please.
