Classes for September 2022
We are currently working hard in school organising the classes for next year. As we are a mixed year group school, each year we have to reorganise our classes ready for the children moving up a year group. Bawtry Mayflower Primary is in quite a unique position within the local authority as we have no limit to the numbers of pupils who can attend our school and we must accept any child that lives within Bawtry or Austerfield. This means that mixed classes are a necessity for us to still sit within legal limits in KS1 and to avoid classes that are too large in KS2.
Staff in school are working hard to ensure that classes for next year are chosen based on a wide range of factors, including friendship groupings; however, whilst we try as hard as possible we are not always able to make sure that everyone has all of their friends within their class. The children mix everyday between classes within their phase as part of our fluid teaching model and have breaks and lunches together so this should help to alleviate worries that parents have around friendship groupings.
The staffing and class structure next year will be as follows:
|Mrs Sykes (Mon-Wed)/ Mrs Wood (Thurs-Fri)
|Y1/2 A- Mrs Davies
Y1/2 B- Miss Cruickshanks
Y1/2 C- Mrs Birkinshaw (Mon-Wed)/Mrs Taylor (Wed afternoon- Fri)
|Y3/4 A- Mrs Wood
Y3/4 B- Mrs Perry
| Y5/6A- Miss Dunn
Y5/6B- Mrs Pickersgill (Mon-Thurs)/ Mrs Walker (Fridays)
Please note: We are unable to take requests for classes and we are unable to change classes once they have been chosen due to the complex organisation process.
We are just waiting for information from Tempest photographers regarding when parents/carers can start to order the class photos that were taken last week. As soon as we hear back from Tempest, we will of course share the details with everyone.

Recognition Board Success!
Congratulations to sisters Sophie in Year 3 and Emily in Year 6 who both received their Recognition Board badges this week for getting their names on the board under all 3 categories (Work Hard, Be Respectful and Be Kind ). They have both worked really hard to get their badges and are very proud. We are really proud of you both too - well done!
It has been a brilliant week for children receiving their Recognition Board badges as Seth and Frankie, both in Year 2, also received their badges from Mrs Walker this week. The boys are the very best of friends so it doesn't surprise us that they also earned their badges at the same time as they like to do everything together! What an amazing achievement Frankie and Seth - keep up the amazing work!
We are so proud to be celebrating some more swimming success this week. Florence in Reception is now in Shark class at her swimming lessons after receiving her certificate from her previous class. Florence had to do a back float for her teacher and also had to do circles in the water. Florence loves to swim under the water too! Well done Florence!
Olive in Reception recently received her Stage 1 certificate in swimming, which is amazing as Olive hasn't been swimming for very long! Olive loves her swimming lessons and swims in a part of the pool where she can't even touch the floor, so she is very happy to have her float with her. We are sure it won't be long before you are swimming without your float Olive. Well done!
Evelyn in Year 1 has also received a swimming certificate recently. One of the tasks Evelyn had to do was to swim and pick an object up from the bottom of the pool. You must have done really well at this Evelyn to have received your certificate. Keep up the hard work!
