The class with the highest attendance this week is Mrs Davies' class with 100%! Well done! A couple of classes were also very close to 100% attendance this week - Miss Dunn's class with 99.66% and Miss Taylor's class with 99.31%.
We would like to thank everyone who donated to our PTA's non-uniform day on 23rd May. £140 was raised which the PTA will put towards providing additional resources for the children.
We would also like to thank those of you who donated clothes to our Bag2School clothing collection today. We raised £74.60 which our PTA has agreed can be donated towards our Key Stage 2 production this year.
Consultation on school meals
A consultation on our school meals is currently open for parents to express their views. Feedback from our children during their Pupil Voice sessions regarding school meals was that there was an overwhelming preference for a choice menu. The consultation is open until next Friday 14th June at 12 noon if you would like to express your views and the full details are on the blog post 'Parental Consultation - school meals' which was posted under Whole School News on 2nd June.
Essential Life Skills After School Club starts next week
Just a quick reminder that if your child is taking part in the Essential Life Skills Club at Austerfield Study Centre, this club starts next Tuesday, 11th June. Austerfield Study Centre are providing transport and the children will be accompanied by a member of staff. The sessions finish at 5pm, so the children will be back at school to be collected at 5.10pm each week.
Sing Out Thursday 13th June
The children in our Choir are getting very excited as it's nearly time for the Sing Out event at The Dome next Thursday. The children should have brought home a letter with the full details of what they need to bring with them, including a packed tea and a water bottle. Any food should be brought in a disposable bag rather than a packed lunch bag please, as there is limited storage space when we get to The Dome. If your child usually has packed lunch at school and you would like them to have a school dinner next Thursday, please let the school office know as soon as possible. Children will need to come to school in their school uniform but will need to bring a brightly coloured t-shirt and some jeans or trousers to change into before we set off to The Dome.
We hope you have managed to get your tickets for the event. We had a question from one of the parents recently about the start time for the concert, as the tickets stated 6.15pm but we had put 7pm start on our letter. We have confirmed with The Dome today that the doors open at 6.15pm and the concert starts at 7pm. The concert is due to finish at approximately 8.30pm and details of where to collect your child from after the concert finishes will be announced on the night. Each school will be dismissed separately, so we would appreciate it if you could please bear with us to ensure that each child is collected safely on the evening.
Father's Day Shop Friday 14th June
Our PTA have organised their Father's Day Shop next Friday. There will be a wide range of gifts available - please see the poster below. If you would like to help at the shop, please contact Mrs Lawton either via the PTA Facebook page or see her on the school playground at the start or end of the school day. If you can't help for the whole morning, any time you can spare is always greatly appreciated.
Year 6 Leavers Book
Each year we offer the Year 6 parents the opportunity to purchase a Year book for their child. This year Tempest photography have done the year books for us in the style of an autograph book and we are really pleased with the quality. There are photos of each Year 6 child in there, together with plenty of space for children and staff to write their good luck messages.
The books will be available to buy via ParentPay from Monday 10th June priced at £5. The deadline for payments to be received is Friday 5th July. The year books will be taken to classes on Tuesday 9th July and given to the children. If you would like to see what the year book looks like, please come to the school office.
It was class photo day yesterday and the photographer who came from Tempest was extremely impressed with the excellent behaviour from all the children. She said it was a pleasure to be at our school and she wished that all children could behave as well as our children! The proofs for the photos should be back in school in the next few weeks, so there will be plenty of time to order them before the end of term. The quickest and easiest way to order is online - if you order online within 7 days of receiving the proof, you will qualify for free delivery of the photograph back to school. Alternatively for a small charge you can have your photographs posted directly to your home address.
Year 6 Mega Travel Pass
Our Year 6 children should have brought home details this week about applying online for their Under 16 Mega Travel Pass, which entitles them to a concessionary fare on public transport. Instructions on how to apply are available by copying and pasting the following link into your chosen search engine (Google etc)
Dinner Money Reminder
If your child is in Year 3 and above and has a school dinner, please remember that these meals should be paid for in advance of being taken. The majority of parents always pay well in advance for their child's school meals and we would like to thank you for this; however, we are having to send out an increasing number of reminders regarding overdue payments, so would appreciate it if all parents could ensure that going forward the meals are paid for in advance.
