Sponsored Walk Monday 11th July 9.15am

We are really looking forward to our sponsored walk on Monday 11th July, starting at 9.15am. A letter was sent home with the children earlier this week with all the details on. We are aware that the weather is forecast to be really warm on Monday; however, as we are completing the walk in the morning, we anticipate that the temperature will be lower than the highest temperature forecast. We do have a plan of action should the weather become too warm during the walk and this will be shared with parents/carers/other family members at the time should the need arise.

We would like the children to come to school in their PE kit or clothing appropriate for the weather and appropriate footwear on Monday please. Please ensure they also bring their water bottle with them. They will need to have suncream applied prior to coming to school and will need to bring a sun hat please.

Our PTA were originally going to be selling refreshments at this event, but due to the change of date they are unable to do so now.

The children will be going into class first so that the register can be taken. Those family members joining us for the walk are welcome to wait on the playgrounds until the children come out of their classrooms. Please remember that if you are arriving at school after 9am, you will need to enter via the Station Road entrance as the other entrances into school will be locked.

Once the walk has been completed, please ensure that any sponsor money is returned to your child's class teacher by Friday 22nd July at the latest please. We can then ensure that FireFly receive this money as soon as possible to support them in their vital work. We will let parents/carers know on our last blog of the school year (Thursday 28th July) how much has been raised.

Accelerated Reader Workshop Monday 11th July 3.15pm

In KS2 all students will take part in the Accelerated Reader programme, which is designed to do the following things:

Find books that are the right ability for each individual child

Encourage children to read more

Improve children’s reading ability

We would like to invite parents/carers of children in our current Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 classes to attend a workshop on Monday 11th July at 3.15pm to find out more information about Accelerated Reader.

Children are more than welcome to come along with their parent/carer. Please wait on the top playground and a member of staff will let you in to the school building.

Maths Workshop Tuesday 12th July 3.15pm

Mrs Wood, our Maths Lead, will be holding a Maths workshop for parents/carers of children in our current Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 on Tuesday 12th July at 3.15pm. Mrs Wood will talk about how certain areas of Maths are taught in school, showing the progression from Year 1 to Year 6. She will also be sharing our Calculation policy and how parents/carers can support their child with Maths.

Children are more than welcome to come along with their parent/carer. The workshop will take place in the lower hall. Please wait on the lower playground and a member of staff will let you in to the school building.

Road Closure Wednesday 13th July

It has been brought to our attention by a member of our school community that part of Spring Gardens and some of Station Road which meets Spring Gardens will be closed to vehicles next Wednesday, 13th July to enable BT to carry out essential work. We have contacted Doncaster Council and have been assured that the pathways around school will be open to pedestrians as normal.

Parking around school

Please remember that Spring Gardens is a private road and parents/carers should not therefore be parking on there at any time. We appreciate your support with this.

Residential Clamping Area near school from Monday 11th July

We have been informed by local residents that the area outside 111 Station Road to 121 Station Road will be a residential clamping area from Monday 11th July onwards. There will be signs advising of this, but we wanted to make parents/carers aware of this as soon as we were informed.

Recognition Board Success!

Congratulations to Elizabeth in Year 2 who has received her Recognition Board badge today for getting her name on the board under all 3 categories  (Work Hard, Be Respectful and Be Kind ). Elizabeth was just waiting to get her name on the Work Hard section of the board; she worked so hard and listened so beautifully during her spelling work this afternoon that she was awarded with her badge. Well done Elizabeth - we know you are so proud to have received your badge and have worked really hard for it. Keep up the hard work!

Congratulations!

It was only a couple of weeks ago that we shared with everyone that Florence in Reception had received her Level 2 swimming certificate. We are pleased to share with everyone that Florence has been an absolute superstar swimmer and has now received her Level 3 swimming certificate! Wow Florence! You are doing so well in your swimming lessons. We are sure it won't be too long before you are bringing your Level 4 certificate to share with everyone. Well done!
