Goodbye and Good Luck!

We've got to that point in the school year where we have to say goodbye to those children and staff who will be leaving. It's never easy to say goodbye, but we know those moving on are ready for the next chapter of their lives and some new adventures.

To our Year 6 children and children in other year groups who are leaving us - we have loved having you in our Mayflower family. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you grow into confident, funny and talented young people. You are all a real credit to your parents/carers and we know you will do amazing things in this next chapter of your life. For many of you, you are the youngest sibling in your family so we are not only saying goodbye to you but to our links with your wonderful families. We hope you will take many happy memories of Mayflower with you and we wish you the very best for your futures. Please come back and visit - we will always be happy to welcome you back here.

We are also saying goodbye today to Miss Louis, one of our Foundation teachers, Miss Walker, one of our Year 3/4 teachers and Miss Risley our Executive Headteacher. They are all moving on to other schools to continue inspiring the next generation. We will really miss you. It has been wonderful working with you at Mayflower and we know the children will really miss you. Good luck; please don't be strangers - we would love to know how you're getting on in September.

We are saying a fond farewell for now to Mrs Ronan, who is leaving us today to start her maternity leave. We love it that our Mayflower family is growing and can't wait to meet your new addition. Take care and we hope to see you soon with your new little bundle of joy.

Sponsored Walk total

The children all managed to complete their sponsored walk over a few days. The children we spoke to were really proud that they had achieved what they set out to achieve on the day of the sponsored walk.

We have been absolutely blown away by the donations that have come in following the walk. We are so pleased and grateful to announce that the total raised was a massive £3907.30! Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think that the total would reach this amount, so thank you so much to everyone who donated.

A representative from Firefly came into school this afternoon and Purdy from Year 6, whose idea the sponsored walk for Firefly was, presented Firefly with the cheque.  Bobbie from Firefly explained that the fuel costs alone for the charity for one week are nearly £1700, so this money is definitely most gratefully received.

PTA School Disco

We would like to say a huge thank you to our PTA for organising the discos that were held this week. The children all had a fantastic time and there was lots of dancing and fun had by all. We couldn't put on these events without the time and effort from the PTA volunteers. If you would be interested in helping at any future events, please contact the PTA through their Facebook page.

School dinner payments for children in Year 3 and above

The price of a school meal for children in Years 3 to 6 will be increasing to £2.60 from September. If your child is currently in Year 2 and will continue to have school dinners when they move into Year 3, payment for school dinners will need to be made on ParentPay (unless you are entitled to means-tested benefits and your child is entitled to a free school meal funded by the Local Authority).

Payment for school meals should always be made in advance of the meals being taken. Payments can be made as far in advance as you wish. The amount paid then remains on your child's dinner money account on ParentPay and each time they have a school meal, the cost for that meal is deducted from the balance.

We have had quite a few accounts in significant arrears this year. We would appreciate it if, going forward, everyone makes their payments on time to ensure the office staff are not having to chase for payment. There is a facility to use Auto Top-Up on ParentPay, whereby you can set an automatic payment to the value of your choice to come out of your bank account when your child's dinner money account reaches a limit that you specify. This then ensures you don't have to remember to top up your child's dinner money account, as the system will do it automatically for you when required.

If you currently owe any dinner money, please ensure you log in to ParentPay as soon as possible please to clear the outstanding balance.

Blu-Belle in Nursery is really loving her swimming lessons and was recently awarded her Stage 1 certificate and badge! That's so amazing Blu-Belle for someone so young. We hope you continue to enjoy your swimming lessons and can't wait for you to share your next award with us. We loved your smile on this photo too - it's a very proud smile!

Edward, Mason, Noah, Elliot and James have all just finished 8 weeks training at the All Stars Cricket Training at Tickhill Cricket Club. The boys have had an amazing time and have learnt lots of new skills. Well done boys!

Noah in Year 1 was recently awarded his 10 metre badge in his swimming lessons. That's a long way to swim for someone who is only in Year 1 Noah!! That's brilliant!
