Year 1 and 2 Reading Books

Posted in Year 1/2 on Sunday, 7th March 2021

Year 1 and 2 bring books home to read each week.

On a Monday, they will bring home a Library book from our class libraries. They have free choice from a large selection of books. They may be able to read this book on their own or they may need to share the book with an adult.

They will also be bringing a RWI (Read, Write, Inc.) Bookbag book home on a Monday. These books support their reading at school and will be the same level as their current RWI group. Children should be able to access these books with minimal adult support. The vocabulary they contain will be words the children know or can decode using Fred Talk (using their sounds). These books will be coming home in a plastic reading packet with the child's reading record.

We expect all children to read to an adult at home at least 3 times each week. Please write when and what they have read in their reading record. We will read your comments in the records each week.

All books and reading packets will be taken home on a Monday and must be returned on a Friday so that they can be quarantined before being used again on the following Monday.

Thank you for your support.
