Year 3 - Poem: Reading comprehension
Year 4 - Reading comprehension: Inference
Wider Curriculum - Science experiment
Lets get experimenting!
- 12 ounce drinking glass
- 8 oz of 7-up or Sprite
- 12 love heart sweets
- Fill the drinking glass with the pop
- Drop all the love hearts into the pop
- Observe the love hearts dance up and down in the pop
How it Works:
The carbon dioxide picks the love hearts up and throws them to the top of the glass. When they reach the top, the bubbles burst and the love hearts work their way down again.
If you liked this experiment why not have a go at the same experiment but make some changes:
- Try doing several glasses, but in each glass have only one colour of love hearts inside. Does one colour of love hearts do better than others? If so, why could that be?
- Try using several different types of pop (Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Coke, etc.). Which pop works the best?
- Try using diet pop versus regular pop. Which pop works the best?
Read books, leaflets, comics, whatever you can find!
Read to yourself, read to your parents/carers, read to older or younger sisters or brothers, read to extended family or friends over video call - Just read!
