Head of School's Welcome
Welcome to our school website.
I hope that you enjoy finding out all about Bawtry Mayflower Primary School and the exciting learning that happens here.
Bawtry Mayflower is a Local Authority maintained primary school on the outskirts of Doncaster. We serve the communities of Bawtry and Austerfield which are both steeped in history.
Our dedicated, inspirational and forward thinking team of staff and Governors provide a happy and exciting environment where children feel safe and cared for. The best interests of the children are at the heart of every decision we make and our high expectations for all our children in terms of their work and behaviour, supports them to be the best they can be.
We are extremely proud of the curriculum that we have in school. It has been produced by our staff, for our children and community and uses the principles of cognitive science to ensure that the children are happy, independent learners who achieve their very best.
We have mixed classes throughout school starting in our Foundation Stage Unit where nursery and reception children learn together. This academic year we have 2 Year 1/2 classes, 2 Year 3/4 classes and 3 Year 5/6 classes. Our teachers are experts at planning for, and teaching and assessing, mixed age classes and our curriculum is planned to support this.
We are very excited and proud to announce that we are now a formal partner for Doncaster Research School and will be working closely with them to develop and share expertise and evidence based learning across the Doncaster borough and beyond. We have several members of staff in school who are Evidence Leads in Education and all of our practice is rooted in evidence. We are passionate about research.
We are all very proud of our school, of its commitment to high standards and of its inclusive ethos and we would be delighted to show you around should you wish to find out more about us.
Kind regards, Natalie Walker, Head of School
