Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.
Nursery & Reception
Star of the week in Nursery goes to Tiana. She has made an extra effort this week to make sure that she is sat ready to learn when she comes into school every morning. She listens carefully to what is being asked of her and always tries her best. She sets high expectations of herself and is proud when she achieves success.
Isaac in Reception - Issac has been a fantastic role model this week. He has been respectful and kind to other children and helped them to have a go at our activities in maths. Issac always tries his best and celebrates his work, sharing it with adults and his friends.
Year 1
Louis T - Louis has had a super week. He has been sitting beautifully on the carpet, ready to learn and he has been working hard. Louis is incredibly kind and talks about his friends in such a positive way. He makes others feel accepted and happy! You are wonderful, Louis!
Jasper - when we think of a supportive, thoughtful cheerleader who builds people up... we think of Jasper! He described himself as 'happy and kind' during Hello Yellow Day and we couldn't agree more. Jasper always has kind words and compliments to give to everyone and he is incredibly helpful too.
Year 2
Emilia - for being a cheerleader for other members of the class by recognising when others are working hard and producing great things. She always celebrates the success of others with a big smile!
George - for being kind, caring and a good friend to all other members of the class, giving them support and encouragement to be the best they can be. George loves to tell others how great they are.
Year 3
Scarlett - Scarlett is a ray of sunshine in our classroom. She always has a smile on her face and has shown that she is a determined learner, that works hard to achieve her best. She is a cheerleader for herself, never giving up and maintaining a positive attitude when things get hard. She can encourage others and always does so in a warm and compassionate way. Keep it up.
Maddison E - Maddison is a resilient learner. She always listens carefully to instructions and uses resources around her to support her with her learning. Maddison is able to identify when she needs support and seeks this from her peers and adults appropriately. She has high levels of respect for everyone and always has a smile on her face.
Year 4
Belle & Rose - for being a cheerleader for themselves and others. They are always ready to support others and are selfless in their actions.
Year 5
Oliwia always celebrates the achievements of others and supports her peers on their learning journeys. She has a positive attitude towards her learning and always tries her best. Keep it up Oliwia!
Elizabeth always supports her peers and celebrates their achievements; both in and out of the classroom. She understands that hard work leads to success and is beginning to take increased ownership of her own learning. Keep it up Elizabeth!
Year 6
The focus across school this week, linked to World Mental Health Day 10.10.24, has been on those children who are cheerleaders. The adults have been paying particular attention to those children who support and encourage themselves and others; we have been practising using phrases such as: 'This is tough but you are tougher' and 'You can do it!' This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this is mind.
Gracie-Leigh: Gracie has such a positive attitude towards her learning: she tells herself that she can do it and when unsure, she asks for support or clarification from adults and her peers. Gracie volunteers to answer questions in lessons and play solos in band and gives everything a really good go. She is such a supportive member of the class who openly celebrates, and takes joy in, the achievements of others. She is positive when talking about her peers and always compliments them, helping them to see their successes.
Henry: Henry is such a supportive member of the class with his peers and with adults. He is always there with words of encouragement and kind comments that boost others up when they feel down or are lacking confidence. He has a 'can do' attitude to his work and will try anything, even if he is not 100% sure what he needs to do. When people need to hear a kind word or comment, he never fails to deliver. Thank you Henry for being a cheerleader this week.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
My Superstar award this week was a really tough choice as lots of our children are ‘cheerleaders’ and do their very best to cheer on themselves and others around them. Scarlett T is this week’s award winner because she always gives 100% in positive energy and helps others believe they are strong, brave and capable of anything. Mrs Parkes had recognised this too as she had already picked her as a Star of the Week.
Scarlett also made a wonderful contribution to our World Mental Health Day video that you can find following this link. World Mental Health Day 2024.
Well done Scarlett, enjoy the trophy this week to remind you how awesome you are!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

World Mental Health Day Thursday 10th October
Yesterday was World Mental Health Day and the children came dressed in yellow to show their support of this important day. Thank you to those who were able to donate to our Young Minds charity collection - we raised £206.03 which has been forwarded on to the charity to help them to continue their vital work supporting young people and their mental health.
Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of activities focused on mental health. These included mindful drawing and colouring, yoga, designing 'what matters' islands inspired by Inside Out, creating comfort creatures and doodling what makes them happy.
Christmas Design Project
The children will have either brought home their artwork for the Christmas Design Project today or will be bringing it home on Monday. We hope you will be really impressed with the artwork - the children have worked so hard creating their masterpieces.
If you would like to order any items with your child's artwork on, please complete the order form on the reverse of the artwork and return to school by Monday 21st October at 3pm at the very latest.
