Message from Mrs Powell
What a wonderful start to the year we have had! School has been such a calm and happy place to be in, and it has been lovely to hear so many stories from the children of their holidays and what they have been doing since they have been back at school. I am pleased to report that we have welcomed such lovely Nursery children in to school, but also many new children across all year groups who have already made such a positive start to the year too! A huge welcome to you all from all the staff at BMPS!
Obviously this year hasn’t started on the right ‘foot’ for me and my boot, and I have found it very difficult not being able to pop up and out to see you all as often as I would like. But what has been wonderful, and made it all the better, is that the children have demonstrated such kindness and helpfulness in helping me around, when I can, so I say a massive thank you to them all.
This week’s values assembly on Monday was themed around communication and respect and how we can all show respect to others with our words but also in our actions. Our STARS of THE WEEK and Superstar Award this week all celebrated their commitment to respecting everyone in school. We pride ourselves here at Bawtry Mayflower, that we have an open door policy where we are committed to resolving difficulties in a constructive manner through an open and positive dialogue. Where issues arise or misconceptions take place, we act quickly to ensure a positive resolution.
As a reminder therefore, I would appreciate you reading our Parent’s Code of Conduct that is available on our school website. The Parent's code of Conduct can be found on our policies page on our website - please click the link here to visit that page. School Policies
It outlines the ways in which you can support the implementation of this policy on and out of the school grounds. I thank you for your continued support of school this year.
Here’s to a fantastic year with lots of exciting opportunities for all our families.
Mrs Powell

Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Please see below for who has been chosen this week, together with the reason for them being chosen.
Nursery & Reception
Luna in Nursery for being respectful in the classroom and looking after the resources by doing super tidying.
Luke in Reception for being respectful and listening carefully and following instructions when he is sat on the carpet.
Year 1
Patrick – Patrick has made a great impression in these first couple of weeks at school. He focuses on his learning and always shows such eagerness to learn. His respect and kindness have been noted by all teachers, along with his hard work.
Mia – Mia has had a super week. She has been a fabulous role model to all her class by showing them how to respect one another by listening and looking after her classroom environment. Well done Mia, keep up your hard work.
Year 2
Isabella - Isabella is a model pupil when demonstrating how to be respectful. She is polite, kind and helpful, always follows instructions and is always ready to learn. She is a joy to have in the class and a great role model to others.
Noah D - Noah is trying so hard to be a model pupil and his efforts are really paying off. He is polite and helpful and shows the utmost respect. Well done Noah!
Year 3
Edward - Edward has been a pleasure to have in class, he is polite, hardworking and respectful to others. Edward has a great attitude for learning and always gets involved in lessons offering answers and explanations. Well done Edward!
Jenson - Jenson’s confidence has grown a lot this week. He is sharing ideas in group work, offering answers and applying these to his independent work. Well done Jenson - keep up the good work!
Year 4
Seth - Seth shows that he is respectful every day. He is polite and courteous to adults and always speaks to other pupils in a kind and friendly way. He looks after the classroom by ensuring that it is tidy and works incredibly hard in every lesson. Fantastic Seth!
Jayden - Jayden has shown that he is very respectful this week. He was so polite when he pointed out an error in Mrs Wood's calculation. He was the only person to notice this and despite other children disagreeing with him, he proved them all wrong and communicated his point of view respectfully. Thank you, Jayden!
Year 5
Max always follows the class/school rules and is a fantastic role model for his peers. He works cooperatively, shares his ideas and thoughtfully listens to what others say. Max always celebrates the achievements of others and supports his peers. He is invariably kind and respectful. Keep it up Max!
Elodie is kind and sensitive and knows that some people may think differently to herself. She is respectful of other people's thoughts and opinions and always listens to and takes on board what others have to say. She is happy to take responsibility for jobs she has been asked to do and carries them out in a mature manner. Keep it up Elodie!
Year 6
In Year 6, our focus for this week has been on inspirational people and the way in which they communicate their ideas and values with others; our Stars of the Week for this week have been chosen with this in mind.
Leo - Leo has worked so hard this week to produce an amazing piece of writing, in which his use of vocabulary was inspirational. He has shown that he can communicate his thoughts and ideas effectively to create vivid, thought-provoking descriptions of characters.
Scarlett - Scarlett has worked hard this week to communicate her ideas with others. She had an idea for an exciting opportunity that other children in school could participate in and, using excellent verbal and written communication skills, managed to inspire others to join her - watch this space!
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy. This week, Katie in Year 4 received this award for showing respect at all times with everyone in school. Well done Katie! This is a very well deserved award and we know your family will be so proud of you.
Local Help/Early Help information
Please click on the link below for information about Local Help/Early Help services.
With Me In Mind
At the end of last term, we emailed out some information about a new service called 'With Me In Mind' who will be working with us this year. Attached to the email were some documents and we thought it would be useful to share this information again prior to the first drop in session which will take place on 4th October between 8.45am and 10.45am.
Welcome to With Me In Mind. We are a service that works with children and Young People who need support with their mental health and wellbeing. We work within certain schools across Doncaster and you and your children will see us at Bawtry Mayflower Primary School from September. We will be offering dates for parents to come and have a cuppa and a chat (please see the timetable below).
We can discuss the service with you and any concerns that you have about your children or your own mental health and wellbeing. Please have a look at the information below, as we can help with low mood, fears, stress, worries and emotional difficulties.
Please also see below some further documents which the 'With Me In Mind' team have provided us with. The wellbeing calendar provides details of the focus of our assemblies on those particular dates, together with any other important dates that 'With Me In Mind' will be promoting/involved in.

If you have a bit of time to spare at all, please speak to the Early Years staff to volunteer your services. We would be grateful for any help you could give. Thank you in advance.

XP Doncaster Student Showcase 26th September 2023 4pm to 6pm
XP Doncaster (XP School and XP East) continues to be one of the most oversubscribed schools, not only in Doncaster but across South Yorkshire and beyond. Despite this, it is important that we share our stories and engage with potential future students and their families. We are a mainstream school who provides outstanding experiences for our students and want to share this proudly with our local community.
What is the Student Showcase?
The Student Showcase is essentially a Year 6 Open Evening where prospective Year 6 students and their families are invited into school to find out more about the amazing work we do each and every day. Our schools sell themselves, but if students and families don’t hear our stories they will not fully understand what makes us stand out from the crowd.
Details have been posted on the XP schools websites where parents will be expected to complete a booking request.
