Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.
Foundation
Thomas in Reception for working hard at his rainbow challenges this week. He used the cutting and sticking resources to make a collage of the bear hunt story.
Kikiope for working really hard in phonics. He is really quick at recognising his sounds and blending them to read simple CVC words.
1/2A Mrs Davies
Harry - for being a supportive and caring member of the class who takes care of all children and adults alike. He never fails to ask if you are ok every day!
Joseph - for being a super geographical features spotter and thoroughly enjoying every minute of our time on the beach.
1/2B Miss Cruickshanks
Olivia C - For her fantastic recount of our trip to Cleethorpes it had time adverbials, extended noun phrases, descriptive vocabulary choices and she was extremely proud of the work she completed.
Oscar F - For just being a pleasure to have around. Your smile and enthusiasm brings smiles to faces everyday. I feel so lucky to have you in my class.
1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor
James H - He is an absolute superstar!! He has been so wonderful and hard working in all subjects but especially in Writing this week. He always tries his very best and is a great role model to all the other children.
Noah J - he has been such a superstar this week! He has been so respectful and hard working especially in writing where he wrote an amazing recount of the trip to Cleethorpes. He always tries his very best and makes us smile everyday.
3/4A Mrs Wood & 3/4B Mrs Perry
We promised to share with you Mrs Wood and Mrs Perry's stars of the week for last week on this blog, as they were away at Austerfield. Their stars of the week for last week were all of Year 4 for their attitude, behaviour and manners on the Austerfield Residential. They were all fabulous (even the ones who didn't get much sleep!)
3/4A Mrs Wood
This week Mrs Wood's stars of the week are:
Charlotte - Charlotte has grown in confidence and it has been really noticeable this week. She is asking and answering more questions and was really brave in our class assembly in front of parents.
Savana - Savana has worked really hard this week. She was very brave when she stood up in assembly as part of a group to speak in front of parents. Savana gained so much confidence from this!
3/4B Mrs Perry
This week Mrs Perry's stars of the week are:
Caydon - for his resilience and determination in completing all tasks this week.
Lucy R - for working incredibly hard this week and showing a real determination to do well in all of her lessons.
A Special Mention for all of Year 4 for completing their Multiplication Tables Checks with a smile!
5/6A Miss Dunn
Maddie has worked so hard this week and is taking her responsibilities for her part in the end of KS2 production seriously; she has taken her own time to annotate her script to ensure that she understands the pronunciations and definitions of all words that form part of her lines and has already memorised the first scene. We can't wait to see you perform!
Millie has tried really hard in all subjects in the curriculum this week; she has produced an amazing description in writing lessons, applying the skills of figurative language that she has worked hard to develop. She has also concentrated well in maths and has become more confident with calculating fractions of quantities and amounts.
5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker
Lucy L - For being determined and responsible. She has worked hard in her own time to learn the lines of the part she wanted. When the part became available, she demanded it and proved that she was capable on taking on the role. She has taken responsibility for her role seriously and has already learnt her lines for scene 1.
Harry W - Harry is new to school. He has settled in well and has already built some good relationships with his peers. He works hard and tries his best. He is not deterred by setbacks; he perseveres and learns from his mistakes.
Letter regarding staffing for the next school year
Parents/carers will be sent a letter via ParentPay by the end of today from Mrs Powell, outlining some upcoming staffing changes.
Change of entry to classrooms - Years 1&2
From Monday, could the children from Years 1&2 please enter their classrooms via the following doors:

Please note that the date on the school calendar and school blog, which was showing as 21st June for this, was incorrect and we apologise for this. This has now been amended to reflect the correct date of Tuesday 20th June.

One of our families has contacted us with the information below, regarding suncream which contains almond oil. We would like to thank them for sending this to us as we are a nut-free school. We would appreciate it if you could please bear this information in mind when you are purchasing suncream.
Sports Day Thursday 22nd June AM
We wanted to remind you that it's our Sports Day next Thursday, 22nd June. The Sports Day will take place during the morning on that day and the timings are as follows:
Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2 (Years 1 to 6) 9am to 10.30am
Nursery and Reception 10.45am to 11.45am
Consent Forms and Regular Visit Forms
The children from Reception to Year 5 should have brought home a couple of forms today which we would like completing and returning to school as soon as possible please. These forms will then be used for the next school year.
One of the forms is our consent form - this form asks for your consent for photos, internet use, fruit (for Foundation and Key Stage 1) and plasters.
The other form is a Local Visit consent form, which provides consent for the children to go on organised walks in the local area (to church, local library etc).
There will be a prize for the class who hands all their forms in first, all correctly completed. Good luck!
Father's Day Shop
We hope the children who visited our Father's Day Shop yesterday had a fantastic time! They were treated to a wide range of gifts to buy for their loved ones. Our PTA and their helpers worked really hard to make sure that this event was really special for the children, so we hope everyone enjoys their gifts when they receive them.
Thank you to those parents/carers who came to help at the shop. These events could not be held without everyone giving their time generously and we thank you on behalf of our children and families.
Class Photos
The children have had their class photos taken today. Tempest will now send us a link to each different photo which will be emailed to parents/carers via ParentPay. We are unsure yet as to when exactly we will receive the links, but they are usually sent quite quickly after the photos have been taken. The link will allow parents/carers to order a class photo should they wish to.
Photos will be returned free of charge to school and then distributed to the children to bring home. Parents/carers will receive an email the day before the photos are being distributed so you know to expect them. We believe there is the option to have the photos posted directly to your home address; however, there is an extra charge for this.
Details of the deadline for photo orders to ensure they are received in school prior to the end of term will be sent along with the link to the photo.
