Attendance monitoring
At Bawtry Mayflower, we are constantly monitoring the attendance of our pupils. We would like to celebrate the attendance of those children who reach our attendance target of at least 97% each term. Each child who achieves 97% attendance or higher will be presented with a certificate in our final assembly of this term, just before we break up for Christmas. Those children who achieve 100% will also receive a treat in addition to their certificate. There are currently 79 children throughout school who have 100% attendance and we are really looking forward to celebrating this fantastic achievement with our children at the end of this term.
As part of the attendance monitoring, we will be emailing letters next week to those parents/carers whose children’s attendance has fallen below 97% this term. We have a statutory duty to advise parents/carers when their child’s attendance falls below the target level, irrespective of the reasons for any absences. We will continue to monitor whole school attendance half-termly.
If you wish to discuss anything which may currently be impacting on your child’s attendance, please speak to your child’s teacher, the school office staff or Mrs Powell and we will work together to help where we can.
Reminders from Mrs Powell regarding attendance
All the staff here and I are hugely aware that attendance plays a huge part in your child's learning and here at Bawtry Mayflower, we are striving to provide the children with the best start in life they can have and to do this they need to be in school and in their lessons.
Good attendance is classed as 97% and above
How can you help keep your child's attendance as high as possible?
Be on time!
Being more than half an hour late means we have to record your child as missing a full session which means it looks like they have not been in all morning even though they have been in for most of it! It also means they have missed an important start to their lessons that day.
Booking appointments
If you cannot avoid appointments on school days, then please try to book them for an afternoon and for as late as possible. This means they do get a mark for the afternoon session even if they have to leave a little earlier.
Holidays
No holidays will be authorised in school time without exceptional circumstances, and fines will be issued if they meet criteria.
Feeling Unwell
If your child isn't feeling quite 100% or something is bothering them, please do send them into school and we will keep a close eye on them and/or will have the opportunity to discuss with them their worries or concerns. We often see that they do perk up and feel better, but if not, school will contact you straight away. Not mentioning this in front of them will also help as they won't get upset and want to go home straight away. If your child is too unwell to attend, please contact the office as soon as possible to confirm this absence.
I do appreciate your support with this, and if you have any questions or concerns please contact me to discuss them.

Job Opportunity
We have some vacancies for relief Midday Supervisors in school at the moment. Our Midday Supervisors are a vital part of our team and are responsible for the children over the lunchtime period. They are with the children when they are eating their meal and also supervise them on the playgrounds at lunchtime. The role is really rewarding. The relief Midday Supervisors would cover for absences etc so wouldn't be required to work every day of every week during term-time.
If you are interested in finding out more about these roles, please call in at the school office or ring us on 01302 710721.

Christmas Design Project Update
We have been notified by Xmas4Schools this afternoon that they have now received and processed all the artwork that was sent to them last week. Parents/carers should therefore start to receive their unique order code soon. If you want to order any items with your child's artwork on, please ensure you log in to the Xmas4Schools website as soon as you receive your order code.
The deadline for orders to be placed is next Wednesday, 23rd November to ensure delivery back to school in time for Christmas.
We will provide an email reminder next week of this deadline.
After School Clubs for after Christmas
The letters for the after school clubs for next term will be coming home with the children in Year 1 to Year 6 next Monday 21st November. The deadline to return the reply slip if your child would like to be considered for a club is next Wednesday, 23rd November at 3pm. If your child is in Year 3 and above, please make sure you complete the part of the slip which indicates whether your child will be collected or will walk home themselves. If this is not completed, the slip will be returned to your child to bring home for completion and may then miss the deadline.
If we receive a reply slip for your child, you will be notified via email through ParentPay by Friday 2nd December as to whether your child has secured a place on their chosen club or not. The clubs will start during week commencing 9th January 2023.
The children who are currently taking part in the Choir after school club will continue with this club until we have taken part in the Young Voices concert on Wednesday 8th February 2023.

This week in Humanities we have been investigating places. As part of remembrance week, we have been using atlases to investigate the physical geography of the countries who formed alliances at the start of WW1. We have also been investigating the geography of Europe pre and post war.
