Starting from this week, each class with 100% attendance on a particular day will receive one letter from the word MAYFLOWER to put on their classroom door. Once a class has spelt out the word MAYFLOWER, a member of the class will bring all their letters down to the office to claim their prize from our box of Awesome Attendance Activities!
Please see below the letters which each class has received this week:

Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Please see below for who has been chosen this week, together with the reason for them being chosen.
Nursery & Reception
Luna always shows her best listening skills and always tries her hardest to do what is asked of her. She shows a really grown up attitude to being at school and is really helpful. She is always kind and caring towards the other children and is a good friend to them.
This week Otis has showed improved listening skills and has been trying really hard to do what has been asked of him. He has also been really kind and helpful!
Year 1
Gabriel: Well done Gabriel, you have been a true model this week at showing courage. You have been able to try hard and challenge yourself in your Writing and Maths work this week. You have become more confident in finding and using resources to help you succeed in your learning and this has been amazing to see. Keep up the hard work!
Blu-Belle: It has been wonderful to see how your confidence has grown since the start of Year 1 and your hard work and determination never goes unnoticed, Blu-Belle! Well done, for showing courage in completing your learning tasks and asking for help when you need it. You always follow school rules and help others to do the same. Keep up the hard work!
Year 2
Isaac - for being a shining light in our classroom. He shows how courageous he is when he answers tricky questions, explains how to do things and tries new things. He also has the courage to sing his beautiful songs to us. Well done, Isaac!
Ottavia - for showing how courageous she is by trying new things and having a go, even when she is not sure if she is right. Her reading is an absolute joy to listen to and she always has the courage to share books with others. Well done Ottavia for having the courage to always be your unique, wonderful self!
Year 3
Jesse-James: This week Jesse's confidence has rocketed, he is sharing ideas, demonstrating things to the class, he is trying really hard with his reading. Jesse has pushed himself outside of his comfort zone this week and it has had a positive impact on him both socially and academically.
Noah: Noah has had a brilliant week, he has tried really hard in all lessons, he has demonstrated his knowledge to the rest of the class. Noah has been a kind friend to everyone and has been a great role model to others.
Year 4
Elizabeth - Elizabeth has been incredibly courageous this week. She has been answering questions in class and working incredibly hard. In Mrs Miller's reading lesson, Elizabeth used the skills she had learnt in writing and applied them to her reading. Fantastic!!
Amelie - Amelie has had another really good week this week! She is being more courageous in class by answering questions and sharing her ideas with the class. Amelie has worked incredibly hard and shown how determined she is to do her best. Excellent!
Year 5
Emilie - Emilie always follows the class/school rules and is a fantastic role model for her peers. She has a positive attitude towards her learning and believes that she can achieve anything she puts her mind to. I have enjoyed teaching Emilie this year; it has been lovely to watch her independence and confidence grow. I wish her every success in the future.
Sophie - Sophie knows that it is not a bad thing to get an answer wrong and demonstrates courage by putting her ideas forward in small group and whole class situations. Her confidence is developing which is really pleasing to see and she is trying much harder to cope with situations which in the past she has found quite worrying and this is a credit to the hard work she has put in. Well done Sophie, keep up the hard work!
Year 6
This week in school, we have been focussing on one of our important Learning Powers: Be Respectful. We have been looking for those children throughout school who show courage in school - with their learning and in social situations too. This weeks Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.
Noah - Noah shows courage every day in school when challenging himself in his learning. When given a choice about the activity he can complete, he always chooses the most difficult activity and shows the resilience and determination necessary when completing it so that he can be successful. He shows the courage to speak out when he feels that the treatment of others is unfair and he always stands up for what is right.
Amelia - Amelia has shown great courage in lessons so far this term - particularly in maths. She is brave enough to ask for help when she feels that she needs it and is happy to accept help from adults and her peers. Amelia has shown the courage to take risks when she is not sure of the correct strategy to use and she will give every task her all - this has led to amazing progress in this area of the curriculum.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy. This week’s superstar award goes to Mia in Year 1. Mia is a superstar in her class and a brilliant role model for her class and all the other children throughout school. She is always kind, helpful and respectful to children and adults. Mia, we are so proud that you have been given this award this week - it is really well deserved and is recognition of the amazing person you are. Well done Mia!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children have recently started learning Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign that the children will be learning next week.
Emergency Childcare
We have sent an email this afternoon regarding the emergency childcare and future decisions regarding this. We would appreciate it if parents/carers could take the time to complete the survey please so that the company who we have approached to discuss future wraparound care can see the demand for this.
The deadline for completion of the survey is 3pm next Friday, 26th January.
School office closures next week
In addition to the school office being closed next Tuesday afternoon (as usual, as the school office is always closed on a Tuesday afternoon from 3pm), it will also be closed on Wednesday 24th January from 3pm as all staff in school, including the office staff, will be taking part in a medical training update.
Payment for After School Clubs
If your child is taking part in one of our after school clubs this term and you haven't yet made the required payment, please ensure that you log in to ParentPay this weekend to make the payment to avoid the office staff having to contact you by phone next week to chase this.
