Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.
As it is the last week of term, our teachers have chosen their 'always' children.
Nursery & Reception
Luna in Nursery is such a good role-model to all of the other children in the class. She always listens well and tries to do the best that is asked of her. She is always kind and considerate to the other children and helpful to all the adults as well. She is always here and ready to learn with a positive attitude.
Georgia in Reception is a superstar, she is always ready to learn and has great listening skills. Georgia is a fantastic help in the classroom, she not only helps out her friends and teachers she goes out of her way to help other children with additional needs which is a lovely skill to have. Georgia is a positive role model and enjoys supporting the younger children. She is great at tidying and supporting the adults in the setting. Well done Georgia!
Year 1
Thomas M always follows our three school rules, he is always ready on the carpet showing me he is ready to learn. Thomas is an excellent role model in the classroom, when moving around school and when he is outside on the playground. He always tries his very best in his learning and is always polite, kind and caring to everyone around him. Keep it up Thomas I am so very proud of you.
Year 2
James is always an absolute pleasure to have in the class. He always listens carefully and tries his best, even when he finds things tricky. James has tried especially hard with his reading, writing and maths, and he should be really proud of the progress he has made. His determination to always do his very best is inspirational!
James is always polite, always kind and always helpful. He is always a friendly and caring boy who does everything that is asked of him and so much more. Well done, James!
Year 3
My always award is going to someone who since the start of the year has always worked hard and given 100% in everything he does. He is always respectful, his manners are impeccable and he repeatedly goes above and beyond to help staff and peers. He radiates kindness and always puts other people's feelings before his own. He has always been a fantastic role model and I have always been able to rely on this person throughout the year to be a shining example of our school rules. For these reasons and many more, my always award goes to, Edward! Well done Edward, keep being you!
Year 4
Noah is a true role model to other children in year 4 and around school. He is always polite and well-mannered. Noah is always (and without exception) respectful to other children, adults and property. He works hard in every lesson and always tries his best, no matter how much of a challenge the work is or how hard he is pushing himself. He is kind and considerate to other children in both his words and his actions. Noah is always setting an excellent example to other children!
Year 5
Valentina has been an excellent role model in Year 5. She is always kind to everyone; she always shows respect to all children and adults and in every single lesson, she works hard and tries her absolute best. Valentina shows integrity all the time in school - her behaviour is exemplary and she really is a pleasure to have in class every day. Thank you for being you.
Year 6
As we draw ever nearer to the end of this academic year, the focus through school has been on our 'Always' children. Adults have been reflecting on and recognising those children across school who embody our school values and ethos at all times, those children who are always kind, always respectful and always work hard. This is an incredibly difficult decision as I have been blessed with some wonderful children in Year 6 this year.
Evelyn - Evelyn has been such an asset to our Year 6 class. She is always kind to her peers and to adults across school. She offers to help when this is needed and will work with anyone, sharing her ideas whilst listening to and valuing the contributions of others. Evelyn is always respectful in the way that she speaks to others - she does not differentiate between different adults and children, treating all members of our school community with respect. She always works hard, putting 100% into every single piece of work. Her commitment to achieving the highest possible standards is unwavering and she does this day in and day out, regardless of what is happening around her. Finally, she always makes me smile with her funny comments and her honest sense of humour. She has been such a character in our class this year and I will miss her greatly.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
My Superstar award this week was a tough choice as lots of our children ‘always’ do their very best and embody our school rules in their words and actions every single day. But there is one special girl who is leaving us today that many adults in school picked to take the trophy home this week.
Ella H, you are a shining beacon of empathy, kindness and patience. Every day this year, you have embraced the challenges, stood up for what is morally just and fair and have always made the adults that work with you very proud indeed. We have no doubt you are destined for great things in school, and out of school, because of your dedication to always do your very best. Well done Ella, keep the trophy pride of place to remind you how awesome you are!
End of term message from Mrs Powell
To all our families,
As we come to the end of another academic year, I just wanted to say thank you.
To all the staff at school who work tirelessly each day to support our children academically, socially and emotionally. To those who give above and beyond. To those who strive to make our school a wonderfully inclusive and happy place to be.
To the team who have filled the year with amazing memories and well-planned learning opportunities for our children.
To our Governors who have supported school through some difficult budget and ‘flood’ related conversations. For their challenge and desire to ensure school is driving improvement forward.
To all of those who have enabled our children to have achieved the most fantastic 2024 SATs results that will see our school achieve data well above national averages.
To those who have ensured that out school has achieved the top 25% FFT attendance award for the Spring Term which means the children are in school learning to be the best they can be.
To those who chose Bawtry Mayflower as part of their career. Miss Scott and Mrs Hollingworth you have shown lots of hard work and dedication during your time here with us at BMPS. On everyone’s behalf, I wish you both every success in your chosen futures and hope you will always feel a sense of belonging to the Mayflower family.
To the parents who recognise the need for supportive encouragement with the challenges your children face if and when they do. Understanding that our open door policy, and a listening ear, means that we recognise that if things are not as they should be, working together and showing respect in this at all times can only help to resolve any worries or concerns they, or you, may have.
To our PTA who have worked tirelessly planning and preparing events which bring our school community together raising such important much-needed funds for school. An amazing £4000 for the children to have a lovely new outdoor area in EYFS.
Finally, to the children here at Bawtry Mayflower Primary. You really are awesome! To our Year 6 children, we wish you all the luck in the world as you take your next steps on to secondary. As a Yr6 parent myself, I know exactly how nervous you might be feeling, but we all here have no doubt that in whatever you choose to do you will ACHIEVE and SUCCEED! We BELIEVE in you!! We really hope that this wonderful school has given you the best advice.
Be Kind … always!
I hope you all have a wonderful Summer. We look forward to seeing you all back ready to take on the next year with the smiles and positivity that you have shared with me each and every day!
See you on September 2nd!
Mrs Powell
Message to Year 6 from Miss Dunn
Year 6 – what can I say?!
I have absolutely loved being your teacher this year: you have been one of my favourite classes (don’t tell anyone!). There has not been a day that has passed that you have not made me smile. Together, you are the kindest, most thoughtful, caring and funny class that I have had the pleasure of teaching. You have kept me entertained with your stories and unrelenting curiosity (‘Is Little Red Riding Hood a true story?’ being one of the most memorable questions, out of thousands, this year!). You are quick to offer help and support to each other and to me, and together, we have made our own little Year 6 team.
I have so many memories of you all – memories that will stay with me long after you have left to begin your exciting new journeys. I also have a new, expanded vocabulary, for which I will be forever grateful (thank you for your patience with me regarding this and the dictionary that you made to ensure that I was using the words correctly).
You are the most amazing group of children with bright futures ahead of you. Your hard work, determination and resilience has led to fantastic outcomes this year of which you should all feel immensely proud. You have achieved so much – both as a class and individually – and I could not be prouder of you so thank you for giving this year everything that you have got.
My advice to you, as you embark on the next chapter of your life, is simple: work hard to achieve your dreams; do what makes you happy; stand up for what you believe is right; and above all, in a world where you can be anything, be kind.
Thank you for all you have done for me and for each other this year; I appreciate every single one of you and you have made a lasting impression on me. I may not be your teacher anymore, as you leave these gates on your final day, but my door will always be open for you (especially if you’re bringing chocolate or biscuits!) should you ever need it. Please remember that.
You have such bright futures ahead of you and I can’t wait to hear all about all that you achieve.
Miss Dunn x

Congratulations!
Henry in Year 1 was recently awarded a certificate in his swimming lessons. Henry told us "I got my certificate because I built up my speed when kicking." Well done Henry - keep up the hard work!
Mia in Year 1 has been very busy with her dancing recently. She was awarded Dancer Of The Week a couple of weeks ago and has also recently taken part in a dance show at Cast Doncaster. Mia, we know how much you love your dancing and how much effort you put in to make sure you are the very best dancer you can be. This certificate is very well deserved. Well done Mia!
Congratulations to Bawtry Juniors U7 Team, who were recently crowned champions at their tournament. To say they all love their football is a massive understatement, so becoming champions really doesn't surprise us in the slightest! Well done!
Bret in Year 2 has recently taken his yellow belt grading and, as you can see, passed with flying colours! You are an absolute superstar Bret, as it's not that long since we were celebrating your previous grading. Well done!
Doncaster Libraries Summer Reading Challenge
We are thrilled to announce that the 3rd Annual Summer Reading Challenge is about to be launched, and this year promises to be more exciting than ever! We have again collaborated with the National Literacy Trust and Doncaster author and Illustrator Phil Sheppard. The theme for 2024 is "Underground Overground," aligning with our broader initiative of championing change in our community. The adventure begins with a hot air balloon ride, symbolizing the start of an exhilarating journey. As children progress through the trail, they will encounter various checkpoints, literary characters and Doncaster history. Along the way, participants will earn stickers for each milestone they achieve, encouraging them to keep going until they reach the ultimate treasure chest filled with rewards. Once the trail is complete they children can collect a well-earned certificate and a chance to win a prize!
Participating Libraries: Askern, Balby, Bawtry, Bentley, Bessacarr, Cantley, Conisbrough, Danum Gallery Library and Museum, Denaby, Edlington, Hatfield, Intake, Mexborough, Moorends, Rossington, Scawthorpe, Stainforth, Thorne, Warmsworth, Woodlands
Signing up to a library
Signing a child up to the library is fairly simple. The adult that is signing the child up to the library will need a form of id that shows their address, this could be a driving licence, bill, letter etc, as they will act as a guarantor for the child’s library card,
Parents can sign up their children to the library via the website link below:
