Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.

Nursery & Reception

For Nursery our star of the week goes to Alfie. Alfie always comes to school with a smile on his face. He tries his best to do excellent listening and do what is asked of him. He has been kind and helpful to his friends, playing nicely, taking turns and sharing. He has also shown excellent counting skills this week.

Sylvi in Reception has been a super star this week. She has made lots of good choices and been kind to her friends. Sylvi has remembered to be polite to everyone she sees, saying hello and making sure she says please and thank you. Sylvi has done some fantastic listening and remembered to listen carefully to her friends whilst they have been talking.

Year 1

Darcy - Darcy throws herself into every task at school with excitement and enthusiasm, but she really impressed us this week with her efforts during World Fitness Day! She is a hard working super star in everything she does!

Reggie- Reggie is always ready to learn and to join in any activity- from Maths to dancing in PE! He listens carefully and always tries his best to follow instructions. He is a fantastic member of the class!

Year 2

Esme - for proving herself to be an incredible asset to our class. Esme is a polite and very respectful girl who approaches everything with a big smile in her face. She has fantastic manners and uses them with adults and children all day, every day. We are really pleased you have joined us at Bawtry, Esme!

Thomas M - for always being polite and respectful in class and throughout school. Thomas always says please and thank you, holds doors open and helps with jobs around the class. He is always sitting up smartly and is ready to learn. He may be very quiet, but he is incredibly respectful!

Year 3

Leo T - Leo has shown that he is a responsible member of the class. He is a role model to his peers. His positive attitude towards all learning enables him to succeed and achieve to the best of his ability. I am very impressed with how Leo has started his Year 3 journey - keep up the hard work!

Annie W - Annie comes to school every day ready to learn. She works diligently in all lessons and this is evident in the work that she produces. Annie is extremely kind and is a good friend to her peers. Any of the other children would be lucky to have Annie as a partner. Keep working hard Annie - you are a star.

Year 4

Logan - Logan is always polite, well-mannered and respectful. He speaks to all children and adults kindly and respectfully and is an excellent role model to other children. Thank you, Logan!

Evie - Evie is always respectful to other people as she shows excellent manners! She regularly supports the other children in class by organising resources and ensuring the classroom is neat, tidy and all equipment is where it should be. Thank you, Evie!

Year 5

Hermione - Hermione demonstrates respect in school on a daily basis. She is invariably kind to others and is happy to take responsibility for jobs she has been asked to do, carrying them out in a mature manner. Hermione shows respect by listening attentively during whole class discussions and to her peers.

Noah W - Noah is invariably respectful. He is always kind and sensitive and knows that some people may think differently to himself.  Noah demonstrates respect by always following the class/school rules, sharing his ideas and thoughtfully listening to what others say.

Year 6

This week in school, our focus has been on one of our hugely important school rules: respect. We have been looking for those children across school who demonstrate this on a daily basis - showing respect to all members of our school community, to our school building and to all resources within it. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.

Brandon - Brandon is ALWAYS respectful to all members of our school community. He always listens to instructions from all adults across school, treating everyone with the respect that they deserve. He is respectful to his peers and the younger children across school and an excellent role model for all. Your respect is noticed and appreciated Brandon - thank you.

Elodie - Elodie treats all members of our school community with the utmost respect at all times. She listens to adults and follows their instructions, regardless of who they are, and she treats her peers with the respect that she would like in return. You are a valued member of our class Elodie and your unwavering kindness and respect is noticed and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Headteacher Award

Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.

This week’s Superstar Award goes to this amazing Mayflower pupil who is always caring for others, thinks about how people feel and tries to make the difference when she can. She looks after those in her class and all around school too. You even have the wonderful ability of making a positive difference to everyone’s day – thank you Kiera in Year 4 for all of the ways you continue to make a difference to our school.

Makaton Sign Of The Week

The children have recently started learning Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

Nursery applications for September 2025

If you have a child who will be 3 years old on or before 31st August 2025 and you would like them to have a place in Nursery starting in September 2025, the application process is now open.

If your home address is within the Doncaster Council Local Authority, please click on the link below to make your application.
https://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/schools/nursery-admissions

If your home address is outside of the Doncaster Council Local Authority, you will need to apply through your Local Authority for a nursery place.

The deadline for applications to be received by the Local Authority is 6th October 2024.

Flu Vaccinations

Next Monday, 23rd September we will be sending out a link to enable parents/carers to provide consent for their child to have the flu vaccination in school. The vaccinations will take place on Thursday 24th October.

The deadline for the online forms to be completed is 22nd October. Unfortunately, if your child's form is completed after this deadline they may not be vaccinated on the main session date. There will be a follow up session on 21st November for any children whose parents/carers have consented to them having the vaccine but who were absent on 24th October.

In preparation for the vaccinations, the team have put together a video to promote the flu vaccinations in school. You can watch the short video by clicking on the link below.

https://youtu.be/ViFRe_c0rm4

This year, all children who successfully receive their vaccine will be entered into a prize draw by the Vaccination Team to win an IPad or Love 2 Shop vouchers.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

If you would like your family to take part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal which was mentioned on last week's blog, the leaflets for this are now available to collect from the school office.

As a reminder, the idea of this is that families fill a shoebox for a young family - the shoebox can include items such as toiletries, small toys, sweets/chocolate etc. We would collect the shoeboxes in and then the family who have suggested taking part in this would deliver the shoeboxes to enable them to be distributed. Families who take part are then able to track where in the world their box is delivered to.

If you would like to take part, please do not spend a fortune on your shoebox(es). Here are some ideas from Link to Hope on what you can include in your shoebox. Think about crafting or making something handmade. Find the present that is in your drawer that has never been used; the candle that you were given for your birthday; the scarf that you have three of; the multipack of socks that if a couple of pairs were missing you wouldn't notice; use the Buy 1 Get One Free offer on toothpaste the next time you are shopping; the small perfect cuddly toy that is sitting in your local charity shop just waiting to find a new home.

Further details of the appeal can be found by clicking the link below.
