Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Please see below for who has been chosen this week, together with the reason for them being chosen.
Nursery & Reception
Florence for good listening on the carpet and for working hard in Read, Write, Inc. with her sounds.
Georgia for always doing good listening and being a postitve role model to the nursery children. Georgia always follows instructions and is a great helping hand.
Year 1
Seren has been a complete Superstar this term in Year 1. Not only has she been a fantastic role model to all her peers, she helps them to follow school rules and is always trying her best. Seren has shown complete kindness to everyone in her class and it never goes unnoticed from all the teachers around school. I hope your confidence continues to grow throughout next year and you continue to take pride in working hard and being kind. Well Done, Seren!
Max has grown from strength to strength and you are a real credit to our Year 1 class. You have been enthusiastic, hard- working and determined since the start of Year 1 and I look forward to seeing this flourish in the New Year. You are engaged in your learning and your enthusiasm is inspiring. Keep up the hard work Max, it’s been wonderful to see you bring a smile to so many around you.
Year 2
Martha - Martha has been an absolute joy to have in Year 2. She works hard and is making really good progress, especially in RWI and writing. She is respectful, always saying please and thank you and showing that she is ready to learn by sitting up straight and having all her equipment ready. She is one of the kindest people I know - she tidies up after everyone and makes sure the classroom is neat and tidy.
Well done Martha - it has been a joy to see you grow in confidence this term.
Oscar S - Oscar is trying so hard to always be the very best he can be. He always works hard and tries his best. He absolutely loves reading our poetry anthology, which is a joy to see. He is so kind and asks how I am everyday. He looks out for his friends and includes others in his games. He is always ready to learn, says please and thank you and asks how he can help. He is a star! Well done Oscar.
Year 3
Evie: this half term Evie has really grown in confidence, I have noticed a big difference in her work. She is challenging herself more, more confident to have a go and has taken on board advice she has been given which has made a real difference. Well done Evie!
Olivia C: Olivia has stood out for all the right reasons this half term. She has made a real effort within her work to do the best she can. She has grown in confidence during class discussions and will often challenge herself outside of her comfort zone. Well done Olivia!
Year 4
Mason - Mason works hard in every lesson. He has shown a real determination to improve his learning and he is always happy to listen to advice. Mason is always polite and well-mannered and he is an excellent role model for other children.
Joe - Joe demonstrates his determination to improve his learning in every lesson. He has worked incredibly hard to learn all of the multiplication facts and he can recall these at a very high speed. He is polite and well-mannered in class and is an excellent role model for other children.
Year 5
Rose is kind, empathetic, and compassionate towards others. She is always ready to lend a hand, offer support, and provide guidance to those who require it. She is selfless and puts others' needs ahead of her own. You are a really good friend to others!
Lily shows courage by asking for help when she needs it, raising her hand to answer questions, standing up in front of the class to perform scenarios in French and trying again and again and again and never giving up. Well done Lily, keep it up!
Year 6
We have had a fabulous half term in Year 6 and all the children deserve recognition for their hard work. Thank you to all of you - I appreciate all your hard work and the kindness and respect that you have shown to me and to each other.
I would like to mention, in particular, our Stars of the Half Term:
Ella - Ella you have been an absolute delight this half term; you are always kind, always respectful and you always try your best. You are a fantastic role model to others.
Seb - Sebastian has tried so hard in all areas of the curriculum this half term; he has pushed himself to ensure that his work is completed and I have seen some amazing progress, particularly in his writing.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy. This week’s superstar award goes to Olive in Year 2 for being an 'always' person every single day of the year. Olive always looks after her friends and peers; is always ready to learn and always lives our school values every single day. Well done Olive - you are very deserving of this award.
Message from Mrs Powell
To all our families,
What a wonderful term we have had since our return in September, although I do feel that we have blinked and it is already December. I reflect back again with immense pride on the many successes that have been achieved along the way, and as I have said before, I am constantly amazed at how much is achieved together as a result of the strong relationships that exist here amongst staff, parents and our children.
Attendance for the school has finished positively at 95.4% and this is above the Primary National of 93.1% however we have a way to go back to achieving our 97% target for the school, but we will keep you updated when we do.
Once again, the staff at this school have gone above and beyond to not only ensure the children are safe and happy here at BMPS, but also to create so many opportunities for our families to see and be involved in celebrating the wonderful achievements our children take part in. In the last few weeks alone, we have had the magical visit of Santa and reindeers, our family Christmas crafternoons, EYFS and KS1 Nativities, Carols around the Tree, choir visits to Bawtry Hall and Peakes Croft, Rocksteady and Guitar concerts, Dance performances with Cre8ive, a wonderful Christmas Service at church, Christmas lunch and jumper day and a first whole school panto day here and at Cast. This is only possible due to the hard work and commitment of so many wonderful people here.
A huge thank you to our PTA who have once again raised much needed funds for school, a staggering £1800 so far this year already, which helped us to take every child to the theatre and it was such a fun and amazing day for all who went. They also helped Santa get all his books wrapped and ready for you to open on Christmas Eve and share a story together as a family. So, I know you will join me in wishing them all a well-earned, Christmas and New Year holiday.
We had lots of fun drawing our unbelievably HUGE chocolate raffle this morning and many prizes are coming home tonight. A special thank you to you all for your donations and ticket buying which means we have raised a whopping £540 towards our festive celebrations this year! Lots of photographs of this and all the other events are on our Twitter page. Here is the link to take a look at them all! https://twitter.com/BawtryMayflower?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor&scrlybrkr=76d9fafa
Finally, I wanted to share something I had read from a fellow teacher who reminded me in the busyness of the last few days before Christmas about what the festive season is really about. Rev. Becky also talked about the same ideas in church on Wednesday. That there is so much pressure to create a perfect magical Christmas and to those of you who are worried about the cost of Christmas, especially at this time of prices for everything seemingly spiralling, that it’s really not what’s under the tree that matters – its who’s around it. The children mention their gifts when they return but for them Christmas is all about you and your love and your time with them and feeling safe. That YOU are their favourite thing.
Therefore, as I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of blessings, I will definitely, for the next few weeks, be following this thought with time in PJs, drinking some hot chocolate and enjoying some Christmas walks with those around the tree rather than focussing on what is under it.
See you all back at school on Monday 8th January!
Mrs Powell
A very proud Headteacher
