Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.
Foundation
Blu-Belle has been doing some fantastic learning this week with our new story, Handa's Surprise. She has listened really well and understood the story so that she was able to re-tell it confidently.
Isabel has been working with Mrs Agus and has been trying hard to do her best. She has been trying really hard to listen well and join in with small group work, offering her comments and ideas more confidently.
1/2A Mrs Davies
Tommy for being a true gentleman - he's always kind and helpful.
Evelyn for being a kind, helpful and caring member of the class - a fantastic role model to others!
1/2B Miss Cruickshanks
Jacob B - for just being a radiator within school, giving absolutely everything 100% effort and for having a fantastic transition on Thursday.
Phoebe - for just spreading smiles every day, always being a good friend to others and for absolutely smashing her maths this week. Well done you!
1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor
Arthur - what an amazing superstar he has been this week! He has shown a huge change in his attitude towards his learning. He has worked so hard in all subjects. Also, in transition, he has been so calm and mature towards being in a new classroom with a new teacher. We are so proud Arthur - keep it up!
Martha - We are so proud of how well Martha has coped with the changes this week. She has coped so well with being in a new classroom and in transition she was superb when meeting her new teacher. She had a great grown-up attitude. We are so super proud!
3/4A Mrs Wood
Henry - for being an excellent partner to a younger pupil, explaining carefully the different arithmetic strategies and supporting in a kind and caring way. Well done and Thank you!
Tee-Jay - for working incredibly hard in class all week. The determination and resilience that Tee-Jay has shown this week has been absolutely amazing to see!! Well done Tee-Jay!
3/4B Mrs Perry
Zara - For settling in so well these past few weeks. She has dealt with all the new things really well and made a great start at Bawtry Mayflower.
Charlie - For working hard. He has been really focussed this week with all his learning. He has shared some excellent ideas and shown a great understanding across all subjects. Well done.
5/6A Miss Dunn
Sebastian - I have been so impressed with Sebastian this week. Whilst completing Year 5 assessment papers, he has shown huge determination and resilience and has worked as hard as he can. I have been impressed with his attitude towards learning and the effort that he has shown in all lessons this week. Keep it up Seb!
Millie - Millie has shown good focus and concentration in maths lessons this week. She has not been deterred by tricky or challenging concepts and has shown a positive 'can do' attitude. Her increased confidence, resilience and determination have really made me proud. Keep believing in yourself Millie!
5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker
Annabelle - For her hard work and determination. She enthusiastically embraces new learning experiences and relishes a challenge. She understands that hard work leads to success and has a positive attitude towards her learning. She takes onboard both positive and negative feedback to help her improve. Keep it up Annabelle!
Elizabeth - For being responsible and courageous. This week during production practise Elizabeth has really stood out. She has demonstrated confidence and bravery by performing in front of everyone; delivering her lines with confidence and great acting skills. She has worked hard in her own time to learn the lines of her part and has taken responsibility for her role seriously by learning all of her lines. Well done Elizabeth!
Mrs Perry's (Year 3/4B) class assembly Monday 26th June
Mrs Perry's class would like to invite their parents/carers into school for their assembly this coming Monday, 26th June. The assembly will start at 10.15am, so if you can make it please ensure you arrive at the school office in plenty of time to sign in.
The theme of the assembly is 'Our Summer Term' and some children will be showing some examples of work that they have done and talking about what they have enjoyed covering topics including Ancient Egyptians, the Austerfield trip and Bawtry Heritage Story.
We look forward to seeing you then.
Class Photos
We have now received the links to enable parents/carers to order the class photos which were taken last week. These will be emailed to parents/carers via ParentPay on Monday. If you would like to order your child's class photo, please order as soon as you can following receipt of your email.
Consent Forms and Regular Visit Forms
If your child is in Reception to Year 5 and you haven't yet returned their completed consent form or regular visit form, please ensure these are returned next week.
There will be a prize for the class who hands all their forms in first, all correctly completed. Good luck!
Children sharing food
Could we please ask parents/carers to remind the children that they should not be sharing food at any time. Although it is tempting to share with their friends, we do have children in school who have allergies/intolerances to certain foods and sharing foods with ingredients that they shouldn't be having could be harmful to them. Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Year 1/2 visit to Cleethorpes
Last Wednesday, the Year 1/2 children went on a trip to Cleethorpes. The weather was incredibly kind and the sun shone down on the children all day. They had an amazing time, as the pictures below show. Some of the children have shared their thoughts on their day with us.
Olivia - we had ice cream! It was a vanilla flavour and was swirled up. The other Olivia buried me in the sand and we found a stripy green shell.
Oscar M - it was fun! We made sandcastles on the beach.
Ellie - I think I found volcanic rock!
Isaac - me and Miss Fairweather found some sea glass. I brought it home.
Sports Day
Yesterday morning was full of excitement and fun, as the children took part in different races for Sports Day. They had been practising for a while for this, so this was the culmination of all their hard work. Their team spirit shone through and they were all supportive of their team mates throughout the event. It was wonderful to see so many parents/carers at the event, cheering the children along. Huge congratulations to the green team, who triumphed overall.
Summer Fair
Our PTA held their Summer Fair after school yesterday and wow! There had been a huge amount of hard work behind the scenes and we hope everyone can agree that all that hard work really paid off as the event was fantastic! There was something for everyone - lots of stalls, yummy food and an amazing atmosphere. Our PTA and helpers really are wonderful. We were blown away by how many parents/carers came into school from lunchtime yesterday to help to set up the fair. It means the world to us that we have such supportive families; those who help at the events and those who come along to the events to support us. Our children benefit greatly from these events, both by having a fantastic time at them but also by the money that is raised by having these events in school, so a huge thank you to everyone.
As part of the Summer Fair, the PTA held a Bake Off competition. All the entries were absolutely delicious! The staff spent a long time eating the cakes/biscuits and deliberating about which ones were the winners - it was a very difficult choice! In the end, it was decided that the winners were:
1st - Ottavia and Valentina
2nd - Joseph
3rd - Ella and James
Well done to all those who entered. We certainly have some very creative and future Bake Off stars at Mayflower!
Here are a few photos of the Summer Fair - we will share some more with you on next week's blog.
Bawtry Arts Festival
This week is Bawtry Arts Festival week and we were delighted to be part of this event. On Wednesday, we held some dance and choir performances in school. The children had been rehearsing routines and songs for this event and they performed to nearly 100 people! If they were nervous, they certainly didn't let it show and treated their families to a super show. Thank you to Paige from Cre8ive Dance who has been leading the dance sessions and to Mrs Wood, our amazing choir leader. The children had a brilliant time performing for their families and we have had some lovely feedback from the families who attended.
