Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.
We had an issue with our school website just before half term, so were unable to share the Stars of the week for the week leading up to half term. We didn't want to miss sharing them with you, so we have included them below for you along with this week's stars.
Foundation
Ellie for super Goldilocks and the Three Bears writing. Elllie tried really hard to Fred tallk her set two sounds. She wrote some fantastic sentences.

Max works hard in every lesson. He is kind to other children and always helps them where he can. Max has an incredible amount of knowledge about geography and helped Mrs Wood by taking over the teaching of the geography lesson. He presented and explained where the Ring of Fire was and supported the class in identifying famous and active volcanoes!
Darcy demonstrates every day that she knows how to be successful. She works hard in every lesson, is an excellent partner in paired work and has shown she is an excellent listener and a great team player when learning the rules of Dodgeball!
3/4B Mrs Perry
Rose: For being all round amazing! She produced a great independent write at the start of the week, solved some pretty tricky fraction questions and showed good inference when answering questions in reading. She always offers to help others or asks if Mrs Perry needs anything doing. She is a star!
Charlie: For working hard and staying focused on his learning. He has proved to himself that he can do it. He has flown with his maths learning of Fractions. He has really thought about his answers when completing inference questions in Reading. He has shown good understanding of the present perfect tense. Fab week, well done.
This week
Gracie-Mae: for determination in maths. She was unsure at the start of the week with fractions, but with determination she has succeeded in her learning. She is now more confident in finding tenths and 100ths.
Amelie: for determination in maths. Through the week Amelie has tried hard with her learning. When she missed part of one lesson, she was able to come in and complete the task correctly and independently.
5/6A Miss Dunn
Evelyn - Evelyn has been committed to making a contribution to other year groups in school this week; she volunteered to lead an e-safety assembly for the whole school to educate them about the important issues around staying safe online. She has also continued to give up her own time to work with the children in KS2 to support them with their reading and phonics. In doing this, Evelyn has demonstrated our school rules and has shown that she is kind and respectful and works hard.
Riley - Riley has been committed to making a contribution to other year groups in school this week; he volunteered to lead an e-safety assembly for the whole school to educate them about the important issues around staying safe online. Riley has also shown a commitment to our school rules this week; he has worked hard to be kind and respectful.
This week

Other adults in school have noticed Leighton's fantastic attitude and I have heard wonderful things about him from different members of staff who have seen him or worked with him across the week. WE are very proud and he has made us smile this week.
Amelia - our focus for this week has been on success and implementing the ingredients for success and Amelia has really embodied these this week. She has shown increased confidence and self-belief and has shown huge determination and resilience when working on concepts that she previously found challenging - this is the key to being a successful learner and we are so proud of you.

We say Goodbye........
On the last Friday before half term, it was was Mrs O’Leary’s last day with us at school as a midday supervisor. We will see her around still as part of Hoglets’ team but we would all like to wish her every success and happiness in her future endeavours. We thank you for all your hard work, kindness and patience with all our children and helping them at each dinnertime!
We will definitely miss your smiles!!
News from Year 3/4
In Maths and Writing we have been creating and developing Maths Through Stories ready to send off to a world wide competition. We thought about what area of maths we could create a story around and presented our ideas as a storyboard. We then used our storyboards to support us in writing up our stories. We will be presenting our stories and creating art to go with them.
This week Y3/4 have been practising dodge ball in PE in preparation for the competition next week. Children have been perfecting their aim and dodging skills. Wish us luck for the competition next week.
We also practised and perfected our stitching in DT. We have been looking at the Artist Stephanie Peters, who creates Natural Disaster Art and includes string and thread in the pieces she creates. We are planning to create our own Natural Disaster images and incorporate our sewing skills.
Update on the plants - they're growing really well with a couple of them producing spider offshoots which can be planted up soon!
Recognition Board Success
Congratulations to the children below who have received their Recognition badges from Mrs Powell recently. They all got their names under all 3 categories on the Recognition board - Work Hard, Be Kind and Be Respectful. Well done everyone!
If your child has been awarded with their Recognition Badge recently and hasn't yet appeared on one of our Friday blogs, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk and we will make sure we celebrate their success on one of our future blogs.
Young Voices
Just before half term, our choir took part in the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Utilita Arena. What an amazing time they had! Mrs Wood, Miss Cruickshanks, Miss Railton, Miss Argo, Mrs Powell and the choir set off just after dinner to head to the Arena for an afternoon rehearsal. Some of the children had never visited the Arena before and were astounded by the size of the building and everyone was blown away by how many children were attending the event. On that day, there were nearly 4000 children in the choir!
Once the rehearsal had finished, the choir had chance to have some food before getting their voices ready for the concert itself. Once their family members were allowed into the arena, the children then had the difficult job of trying to identify their parents! The lights were very bright in the Arena, but hopefully everyone managed to see their loved ones.
The concert itself was awe-inspiring! It was so moving to hear all the children singing together and our choir did us so proud! Their behaviour was exemplary, which meant that the staff members with them could enjoy their time with the children and take in the full experience of the concert.
We have had so many lovely comments from families who were there on the night and we're so glad that everyone enjoyed the experience as much as we did!
We will share some pictures of the event on next Friday's blog.
Year 1/2 Sewing Day
On the last day of last half term, Year 1/2 had a sewing day. We welcomed lots of helpers in to school that day to work with the children and what they managed to achieve during that day was amazing! The children and adults worked so well together and the children were as polite and respectful as ever. We're not sure who enjoyed the day more - the children or our helpers!
We would like to thank those that were able to attend the event for giving up their time and helping to create some amazing pieces of art.
Girlguiding Thinking Day
This Wednesday was Girlguiding Thinking Day, when thoughts are centred on girls around the world. To commemorate this day, we were contacted by a couple of Rainbow/Brownie packs to ask if their Rainbows/Brownies who attend our school could come in their uniforms that day. The girls were really proud to represent their Rainbow/Brownie packs and were really aware that not all girls around the world are as fortunate as we are.
Congratulations!
Frankie in Year 3 achieved his Stage 5 swimming this week and received a certificate and badge. That's amazing Frankie! Keep up the hard work and we look forward to sharing your next swimming success on a future blog. Well done!
