Reporting absences
If your child will be absent from school, please remember to call the school number (01302 710721) and leave a message on the absence line (Option 1) by 8.30am that morning. In addition to providing your child's name and class, please could you also leave a short reason for absence.
Calling and leaving a message will help the office staff enormously, as they can then record the absence correctly on our systems and won't need to make any phone calls to the parents of those children who are absent.
Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.
Nursery & Reception
Ralphy is star of the week in Nursery this week. He has been super helpful to the adults and his friends. He has helped to do jobs and been very kind in helping his friends whenever he can. He has also been a star at tidy up time this week and earned lots of stickers.
This week in Reception, this person has been a fantastic helper in the classroom. She has been taking pride in our environment and making sure everything has been looked after and put away in the right place. She has tried to make sure other children are included and has been kind and caring towards her friends. Well done Jaycee 🙂
Our next super star in Reception this week has been ready to learn all week making sure she is listening and focused on what we have been doing. This person has been sharing her thoughts and feelings about how other cultures live and learn over the past few weeks whilst we have explored different religions and cultures from around the world. Well done Bethany 🙂
Year 1
Holly - Holly has had another wonderful week in school. This week we have been thinking about diversity and what makes us unique. Holly always treats everybody with respect, no matter who they are. We have loved getting to know what makes her special and unique too. She has so many wonderful skills and talents! Continue to be your wonderful self!
Hugo - This week we have been thinking about what makes us all different and unique. Hugo has loved sharing his special talents with us. He is a brilliant artist, a fountain of knowledge (particularly when it comes to nature and birds), and most importantly he is a very kind and caring friend. Hugo never fails to put a huge smile on everybody's faces!
Year 2
This week, we have been thinking all about celebrating strengths / differences and how we can help others who might be suffering or need help.
Seren cares for all members of our school community. She appreciates that we are all unique and we all have different needs. She shows respect and patience towards everyone, taking time to get to know each person, understand their needs and how best to support them. She truly is a very special person. Thank you for being so thoughtful, Seren.
Evie is very enthusiastic about making everyone who comes into our classroom feel welcome. Her lively nature and big smile puts others at ease. She treats everyone exactly the same and is always one of the first to celebrate the success of others, be it big or small. Evie watches out for others and is always keen to give a helping hand. Thank you for being so kind, Evie.
Year 3
Tommy - Tommy is a very caring member of the class. He not only works hard but is always willing to support other people in class. He is always happy to work with other children no matter who they are and he does this kindly. Thank you Tommy!
Sadie - Sadie is amazing! She works incredibly hard in class and will share her ideas to support other children. She is a quiet supporter of all the children she works with and will help anyone who needs her. Thank you Sadie.
Year 4
Lilly-Rose - Lilly goes above and beyond when it comes to supporting others who need help. She goes out of her way to offer guidance and help to her peers. This week, I have witnessed Lilly helping a peer to decode unfamiliar language in a text and also helping someone to order and compare decimals. Lilly is very self-aware as a learner and this is enabling her to make amazing progress. Keep it up.
Rose - Rose always goes out of her way to help and support other members of the class. She assists others through questioning and scaffolding their learning, never giving them the answer but supporting them to achieve it by themselves. Rose praises others for their achievements and celebrates in their success. She is a star!
Year 5
The stars of the week for this week in Year 5 are.......................................the whole class! They have been absolute superstars on their residential to Caythorpe Court this week. They have all worked together and shown excellent team spirit, giving everything a go even when they found things difficult. Their behaviour has been exemplary and they have been a pleasure to be with. Well done Year 5!
Year 6
The focus across school this week, has been on those children who go out of their way to help others when they need it. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.
Rose - Rose always goes out of her way to think about others; when she thinks that other people may be upset or finding something difficult, she is the first person to check that they are okay and to offer support to help them. She is kind and considerate and always wants to help others to find solutions to their problems. Thank you for all that you do for others, Rose.
Ella - Ella is a kind and supportive member of the class who goes out of her way to make sure that others are okay. She is very aware of the feelings of others and when her friends might be struggling, she picks up on this and supports them, offering solutions to their problems and demonstrating compassion and understanding. Thank you for helping your friends when they need it, Ella.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
My superstar award this week goes to Noah G (Yr4). Noah works hard every day in school and gives everything he does 100% effort. This week we focussed on diversity, and the celebration of everyone’s differences, strengths and talents and how this ultimately made us happy. Noah not only showed fantastic talents in his amazing independent writing this week, he also makes others happy all of the time in all that he does too! Well done Noah!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

Class messages from School Spider
Just a quick reminder that as advised last week, parents/carers will now be receiving a general weekly update from the class teachers via School Spider to inform them what has been happening in class that particular week. Messages will also be sent out via School Spider for any changes to PE days etc.
We will still be producing our weekly blog each week, but this will have whole school news on it rather than anything relating to an individual class.
Monthly Inclusion Meetings
As a school, we are committed to supporting all aspects of our children’s wellbeing and know that the relationships that we have with our families provides the strongest starting point for our children. We also know that sometimes parents/carers want to speak with school but can find it difficult to find the time or that sometimes just picking up the phone can be daunting.
At school we have a dedicated inclusion team who are here to support all aspects of the pastoral and mental health and wellbeing needs of our school community as well as support with any Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). Mrs Westerman (Family Manager/Pastoral Lead) and I, offer parents/carers the opportunity to book dedicated time to discuss any worries or concerns once each month.
These 30 minute sessions will now happen on the morning of the last Friday of every month due to timetable changes. As we have missed the last Friday of April, we will hold them next Friday 2nd May. The sessions available to book are as follows:
9-9:30
9:30-10
10-10:30
10:30- 11
11- 11:30
11:30-12
To book, please email the school office admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk with your requested time. The slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
The sessions are an opportunity for you to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your child's needs or family circumstances. Our team is dedicated to providing support, guidance, and signposting to additional resources if needed.
There are no worries or concerns that are too big or too small.
We look forward to meeting with anyone who would like to pop in for a coffee and a chat.
Many Thanks
Mrs Walker (Deputy Head and Inclusion Lead)
VE Day Celebrations
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, we would like to invite our families to join us for a family picnic on Wednesday 7th May 2025 from 12 noon. We would like those coming along to bring a picnic lunch with them. Those children who usually have a school dinner will be having a picnic lunch that day. Those children who usually bring a packed lunch have the opportunity to have a school packed lunch that day and an online form was sent out to parents/carers earlier this week for this. The deadline for the online form to be completed is next Monday, 28th April. They are of course welcome to bring their own packed lunch as normal should they prefer. Our Nursery children and their families are also invited to this event and an online form was sent out to parents/carers earlier this week.
We would like to create a memory board for the oocasion. Was a member of your family involved in the war, perhaps as a member of the armed forces or even evacuated during the war? If so, we would like to include them on our memory board. Please bring/send in a photo/letter/postcard etc - anything that you would like to enable us to celebrate your family member.
We would also like the children to come in non-uniform that day please.
Lunch Menu for week commencing 28th April 2025
Please see the menu below for next week. Mrs Stanfield will continue to monitor the children's likes and dislikes and there may be changes to these menus in light of these.
There may also be last minute changes to the menus on occasion, to take into account availability of items or delivery issues.

Please see below our current diary dates. It may be that there are dates on here that involve your child that you haven't had any information for yet.
