Attendance

Every week in our Celebration Assembly, we celebrate the class who has achieved the highest attendance for that week. This week Mrs Wood's class had the highest attendance with 100%! Well done Year 4!

Please see below for the attendance figures for this week. The target attendance for all children is currently set at 97%. We also thought it would be useful to provide weekly whole school attendance, in addition to the National attendance figure, so parents/carers can see how our school compares nationally for attendance.

Whole school attendance this week 96.6%

National attendance this week 95.5%

Nursery - 90.67%

Reception - 97.85%

Year 1 Mrs Birkinshaw & Mrs Ward - 99.38%

Year 2 Mrs Davies - 95.56%

Year 3 Mrs Parkes & Mrs Ronan - 99.28%

Year 4 Mrs Wood - 100%

Year 5 Mrs Pickersgill - 92.31%

Year 6 Miss Dunn - 98.37%

Celebrating fantastic attendance!

Each week, each class with 100% attendance on a particular day will receive one letter from the word MAYFLOWER to put on their classroom door. Once a class has spelt out the word MAYFLOWER, a member of the class will bring all their letters down to the office to claim their prize from our box of Awesome Attendance Activities!

Please see below where each class stands at the end of today:

Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Here are the children who have been chosen this week.

Nursery & Reception

For Star of the Week in Nursery this week we have chosen Uzayr. Uzayr has settled well into school life. He always enthusiastically comes into school with a smile on his face. He is trying really hard to listen to instructions and do what is asked of him. He has been kind and helpful to the adults and to his friends in the classroom.

Reception's star is Patrick. He has been working hard this week and has done a fantastic drawing of his family. Patrick has also been a super star in phonics this week and tried really hard to learn our new sounds and had a go at writing them on his work this week. Patrick has shown kindness this week by helping in the classroom to do lots of tidying up jobs. Well done!

Year 1

Otis - Otis always does little acts of kindness without ever seeking credit for them. We have spotted Otis picking up things people have dropped, giving hugs when others are sad, asking others to play and much more! Otis is such a kind and thoughtful superstar.

Lucy - Lucy is incredibly kind-hearted, helpful and super smiley! She is always ready to learn and sets a great example to the rest of the class of how to behave in school and how to work hard. Lucy spreads happiness by telling others interesting stories, has very polite manners, and joins in with fun games at breaktimes.

Year 2

Owen - for being kind and caring to all members of the class and the staff too. He may be very quiet, but he is always on the look out for how he can help and support others. You are a lovely friend, Owen. Keep it up.

Gabriel - for being kind and caring to everyone. His cheeky smile lights up the room and brightens everyone's day. Thank you for being you, Gabe.

Year 3

Sadie - Sadie has had a fantastic start to Year 3. She is a quiet, respectful member of the class. Sadie puts 100% effort into all lessons and this is evident in the work that she produces. This week, Sadie has shown how helpful she is by offering to do jobs in her own time to make the learning environment a better place for her peers.

Isabella - Isabella has shown that she is a resilient and hard working learner. She continues to try when things are tricky and uses resources in the classroom to enable her to complete her work. Isabella is a role model to her peers. She is extremely helpful and often gives up her own time to sharpen pencils, tidy desks and organise resources.

Year 4

Jesse - for working really hard in Maths, being a supportive classmate to other children, helping his peers with work, being the first to put his hand up to answer questions in his Maths group and being a really good role model in Maths for his attitude to learning.

Oscar - for his phenomenal Maths skills this week, being kind to everyone including staff, having the ability to make people smile, going above and beyond to support peers in all aspects of learning and being a good friend to all.

Year 5

Seth - Seth is a kind and caring member of Year 5 who always helps others when they need it. He works well with lots of different partners in the class and shows good collaboration in lessons.  Seth offers his ideas and advice and always ensures that he listens to, and values, the thoughts and ideas of others. Keep it up Seth!

Ariana - Ariana is a kind, thoughtful and considerate member of the class who is always offering to help others. She helps children with their work in lessons, ensuring that she supports others to be able to complete their own work. Ariana always asks adults if they need anything doing and she will give up her own time to do whatever is asked of her, often putting the needs of others before her own. She is a pleasure to teach!

Year 6

This week in school, our focus has been on one of our hugely important school rules: kindness. We have been looking for those children who show kindness in all they do - whether this be with their peers during lessons, looking out for other children and showing kindness during lunch breaks and playtimes, or even those children who show kindness to staff members and people in our wider school community. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.

Elsie embodies this important school rule in all she does and is invariably kind always. She offers support to others when they need it and shows selflessness in her actions, even offering her own time during breaks to support children who are finding their work tricky. She has patience in abundance and any child in school would be very privileged to have Elsie as their partner or friend. Thank you for the important contribution that you make to our Year 6 family Elsie.

Max shows kindness, thoughtfulness and consideration in all he does: he treats others with respect and compassion and shows a great deal of consideration towards the feelings of all - whether this be his peers, other children across school or members of school staff. Thank you for the kindness that you continue to show Max.

Headteacher Award

Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.

This week’s theme was linked to International Peace Day 2024 (21.9). In assembly and pupil voice, we looked at the UN treaty and how we are doing the same here in school trying to create the same promises for peace. My superstar award this week goes to Seth W. You really are a peacemaker, and you bring calm and peace to the classroom and around school. You have the wonderful ability of making a positive difference to everyone’s day – thank you!

Makaton Sign Of The Week

The children are continuing to learn Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign for the coming week.

Harvest Service Wednesday 16th October

We are busy preparing in school for our Harvest Service at St Nicholas' Church on Wednesday 16th October. The children who have joined us this year are already learning the words to the songs and those who have sung them before have remembered them really well. We will be setting off to the church after morning registration that day.

If you would like to join us to walk to church and back with the children and enjoy the service, please let your child's teacher know that you can come along.

We will be collecting donations to take to church for the Harvest Service - we will give further details on next week's blog about who we will be helping with the donations this time.

Flu Vaccinations

As you are aware, the School Age Immunisation Team will be delivering Flu vaccinations in school on the 24th October 2024 to children in Reception up to and including Year 6. In preparation for their visit, we sent out a link via ParentPay email on Monday of this week so parents/carers could read some information about the vaccine and then complete the Electronic consent form.

The deadline to complete the consent form to ensure that your child can have their vaccination is 22nd October.

If your child is absent on the day, the team will be returning to school on 21st November to administer any missed vaccinations. You can also access one of the Health Bus sessions displayed on the Flu letter page (which can be accessed once you click the above link).

In preparation for the vaccinations, the team have put together a video to promote the flu vaccinations in school. You can watch the short video by clicking on the link below.

This year, all children who successfully receive their vaccine will be entered into a prize draw by the Vaccination Team to win an IPad or Love 2 Shop vouchers.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to all those who attended the Macmillan Coffee Morning this morning. It was a fantastic turnout from both our families and the wider community. Huge thanks to Lorna from the Bawtry & Austerfield Wellbeing Project, Liz from St Nicholas' church and Mrs Buxton, one of our parent Governors, who helped hugely at the event.

The children who attended the event thoroughly enjoyed themselves; it was so lovely to see them chatting so confidently with those from the community. The cakes were definitely a bonus for them that's for sure!!

We held a collection for Macmillan Cancer Research at the event and raised £165, which is fabulous! We have paid this across to MacMillan and know that they will be extremely grateful for this donation to help them to continue their amazing work. Thank you to those who donated.
