Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.

Foundation

Blu-Belle - For being a super star at the writing rainbow challenge. She tried really hard at writing her invitation for the King's Coronation.

Jessica for listening well at carpet time, she has tried really hard to join in with the activities.

1/2A Mrs Davies

Thomas D - Thomas has shown determination to improve his independent writing. He doesn't always find writing easy, but he has worked hard and shown resilience which has resulted in delightful writing with beautiful presentation and a fantastic choice of verbs and adverbs.

Elliot M - Elliot has improved his independent writing. He has been determined to improve his presentation and he is using a range of interesting vocabulary to make his writing more effective.

1/2B Miss Cruickshanks

Scarlett - For standing out from the crowd for all of the right reasons, setting a good example and always being eager to learn. Well done you!

Phoebe - For finding a new grown confidence and making fabulous progress in all areas of the curriculum, you are working so hard and it never goes unnoticed, you are a super star!

1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor

Natalie - she has been amazing and resilient with her reading this week. She has been developing her fluency and has been so determined to not be distracted during the sessions. Keep it going Natalie!

Logan - He has been working so hard this week and challenging himself when he has found his learning difficult. This has definitely been seen in his writing where he has had an amazing attempt at recounting the time Paddington had tea with the queen. Well done Logan - we are all so proud!

3/4A Mrs Wood

Seth - Seth has had an amazing week. He tries hard all of the time and never gives in. He is determined to do his best work at all times! Superstar!

Elizabeth - Elizabeth's determination to succeed has been demonstrated all week! In maths, although she didn't think she could answer the questions, she was determined and followed the steps and completed the questions! Fabulous!

3/4B Mrs Perry

Valentina: For working hard. Her effort this week has been amazing. She has shown good understanding across all subjects and participated well in any discussions we have had. Valentina should be really proud of herself.

Gracie-Mae: For being kind. She has helped her peers in many ways this week. She has supported them with their learning, been empathetic when they have been upset and encouraged them when they have found something hard.

5/6A Miss Dunn

Our focus this week has been on those children who show courage to be different - to be themselves and to stand out from the crowd and Y5/6A Stars of the Week have been chosen with this in mind.

Betsy - Betsy always makes the right choices regardless of who she is with or who is around. She recognises that everyone is different and has the courage to be herself, make her own choices and follow her own choices. Don't ever change Betsy!

Alesha - Alesha recognises that everyone is unique and she accepts others for who they are. She has the courage to always be her happy, smiley self and she makes her own decisions and stands up for what she believes in. Keep being you Alesha!

5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker

Robert - Robert joined our school on Monday morning and already he is showing what a superstar he is! He is a kind and polite child who has already made lots of new friends. He listens attentively and is keen to share his ideas in class discussions. He turns up everyday with a smile on his face and tries his best in everything that he does. Keep up the hard work!

Jack - This week Jack has been trying incredibly hard to improve his handwriting. His writing is becoming much more legible and much neater. Keep practicing Jack!

Easter Egg Raffle and 'Wear a hat day'

We have realised that we haven't shared with you the totals from our 'Wear a hat day' and Easter Egg raffle, both of which took place during the week leading up to the Easter holidays.

We raised £163.15 during the 'Wear a hat day' and this money has been given to the Brain Tumour Research Charity. They will be incredibly grateful to everyone who was able to donate, so thank you.

We raised £333 from the sales of the Easter Egg raffle tickets! This money will be used to enhance the children's learning and to provide additional resources/activities that we wouldn't have been otherwise able to purchase. Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets.

Coronation Picnic Lunch Friday 5th May

We are really looking forward to our Coronation-themed day in school next Friday, 5th May. We would like the children to wear non-uniform next Friday please and, if possible, could they wear something red, white and/or blue (although if they don't have any items of clothing these colours please don't go out and buy something especially for this). We have lots of coronation-themed activities for the day!

As part of this day, we have invited parents/carers/family members into school for a whole school picnic lunch. Parents/carers/family members are to bring their own picnic lunch please (please remember that we are a nut-free school) and everyone will sit together on the field to eat their food. If you have a picnic blanket or picnic chairs etc, please bring these with you next Friday when you join us for the picnic.

The deadline for the slips to let us know you will be joining us was today, so if you still haven't returned your slip and would like to join us please return this to your child's teacher on Tuesday morning. Please note, you cannot just turn up on the day of the event - we need to know by Tuesday who will be joining us.

The picnic lunch will take place from 12pm to 1.30pm. Please arrive at school by 11.50am as the gate into school will be locked at 12pm to allow all staff to enjoy the picnic with the children.

If your child usually brings a packed lunch from home and would like a school packed lunch provided next Friday, please complete the online form which was sent out recently if you haven't already - the deadline for this is the end of today but as long as this is completed by the end of Monday that will be fine. Likewise, please do the same if your child is in our Nursery and you would like to order a school packed lunch for them. Details of whether there will be a charge of £2.60 for this meal were sent with the original emails.

We are really looking forward to our Coronation Celebration Day and hope as many of you as possible can join us next Friday.

Year 6 Leavers Hoodies

An email was sent out via ParentPay yesterday with details of how parents/carers of our Year 6 children can order a leavers hoodie. Please note that the deadline for orders to be made online with the company is next Friday, 5th May.

Year 4 Austerfield Residential

As advised previously, there will be a meeting on Tuesday 2nd May at 4.45pm for parents of our Year 4 children regarding the Austerfield Residential. The meeting will take place in one of the Year 3/4 classrooms. Please wait on the top playground for a member of staff to let you in to the building.

News from Foundation

Our Reception children are really enjoying their bike training sessions on a Wednesday afternoon. They are all doing amazingly well - Nicola, the coach, is super impressed with the children, especially as they have only had 2 sessions so far! Keep up the hard work Reception!

Allotment News

Today, some of the pupils from Y1/2 have been into the allotment. They have been planting lots of seeds including sunflowers, dwarf beans, parsley and lettuce. They have also been looking after the flower beds by completing lots of weeding. Finally, they filled up the bird feeders and the resident local robin came to say hello.

Recognition Board Success

Congratulations to the children below who have received their Recognition badges from Mrs Powell recently. They all got their names under all 3 categories on the Recognition board - Work Hard, Be Kind and Be Respectful. Well done everyone!

If your child has been awarded with their Recognition Badge recently and hasn't yet appeared on one of our Friday blogs, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk and we will make sure we celebrate their success on one of our future blogs.

Congratulations!

This week, Seth in Year 3 was awarded his 50m swimming badge. Seth and his family are very proud of this achievement and we're not surprised! What a long way to swim Seth! Well done - we are really proud of you too!
