Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.

Foundation

Rory – Good understanding of the Handa’s Surprise story, demonstrated through a very detailed story map of the journey that Handa took in the story.

Louie – For listening well at story time and being confident enough to offer his thoughts about the story that they were reading together.

1/2A Mrs Davies

Sadie - for being a lovely friend and going out of her way to make others feel included. She is polite and thoughtful.  She always looks out for others and helps them when she can.

Maddie S - for being the most inclusive child we know! She will play with anyone, including them in her games. She is caring and thoughtful and understanding - and gives amazing hugs.

Joseph - for including other children in his imaginative games at playtime. He treats everyone the same - with respect. This is why he is such a popular member of the class.

1/2B Miss Cruickshanks

Oscar M - For being a ray of sunshine. For having the feelings and emotions of others in mind in all he says and does and for just accepting people for exactly who they are.

James B - For always showing the upmost respect to others around him, for being an empathetic and caring member of the class who is cherished by his peers.

1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor

Natalie - she has worked really hard this week in all areas of learning.  She has been trying her best to complete her work to a high standard.  Natalie has joined in all group work; she has been so supportive of others and has brought a smile to everyone's face.

Ellie - She comes into our class everyday with a great big smile on her face, bringing joy to everyone in the class.  She has been so positive in her attitude towards all her learning and we are so proud of her - keep it up!

3/4A Mrs Wood

Cameron has worked incredibly hard this week. She has shown how determined she is by concentrating for long periods of time and checking all of her work thoroughly. She has combined this with being really helpful in class and as always, is polite and well-mannered!

Ava B has had another fabulous week! She has worked hard all week and has been an enormous help and support to other children. She is kind, polite, well-mannered and incredibly helpful all of the time! Fabulous!

3/4B Mrs Perry

Noah: For having an amazing attitude, and overcoming obstacles in order to complete his learning and assessments this week

Joe: For having a respectful, work hard attitude. He is showing a real maturity in lessons and proving he is ready for what Year 4 has in store for him.

5/6A Miss Dunn & 5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker

We are so proud of our Year 6 this week; we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them out of school at Caythorpe Court during residential. They have made us proud and we even managed to get a little sleep! They all deserve to be this week's Stars of the Week but we would especially like to highlight the following children:

Maisie, Daniel, Poppy, Jack, Layla, Lucy D, Zach, Alayna, Aimee, Evie, Zak, Robert, Amelia, Erin, Lucy L and Riley P - these children approached all activities and challenges with a smile on their face - even the slightly scary ones! They showed such resilience and determination throughout and really pushed themselves out of their comfort zones when trying new things. They all showed a fantastic attitude towards all the activities and were supportive to their peers, encouraging them and cheering them on. You represented our school in such a positive way and we are so proud of all that you achieved.

Nut Free School

We currently have children throughout school with a range of allergies and are a nut free school. People who suffer from nut allergies can develop a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

If someone has a nut allergy, it is not just eating nuts that can cause a severe reaction, just being touched on the skin or smelling the breath of someone who has had nuts or a product containing nuts can trigger anaphylactic shock (which can cause breathing and swallowing difficulties).

Most staff members in the school are trained to use Epi-pens (an injection of adrenalin) which are required immediately if this happens. School also has emergency Epi-pens in the event that a child’s Epi-pen fails.

We cannot have nuts in school in any form so please can we ask that you do not put nut products in your child’s lunch box or that no nut products are brought into school as a snack.

For example:

  • Peanut butter sandwiches
  • Chocolate spreads
  • Cereal bars
  • Some granola bars
  • Cakes that contain nuts
  • Biscuits / Cookies that contain nuts
  • Peanut butter cakes

This list is not exhaustive, so please check the packaging of products closely. We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check but we know that you will recognise the importance of it.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.

Class Photos

We have now sent out the links to enable parents/carers to order the class photos which were taken a couple of weeks ago. If you haven't yet ordered your child's class photo and would like to, the deadline to order for free delivery back to school is Tuesday 11th July at the very latest. If you wish, you can pay an additional charge of £5 to order the photo to be delivered direct to your home address.

You can of course order after the deadline but there will be an additional charge of £5 for postage and packing.

If you need any assistance in ordering your photos, please contact Tempest on 01736 751555 (option3).

Consent Forms and Regular Visit Forms

If your child is in Reception to Year 5 and you haven't yet returned their completed consent form or regular visit form, please ensure these are returned next week.

There will be a prize for the class who hands all their forms in first, all correctly completed. Good luck!

Uniform orders for September

Don't forget we are now accepting orders for uniform for September. If you would like to order any uniform ready for September, please log on to ParentPay to order your items before Friday 14th July 2023.

The uniform will be available to collect on Monday 4th September 2023 as this is a training day and school will be closed to pupils on this day.

We cannot guarantee that any orders received after Friday 14th July will be available for collection before the children start back in September, so it is really important that you order on time.

If you order any uniform and the item is for your child to have this term rather than for September, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk to let us know.

Meet The Teacher Tuesday 4th July

As advised in the diary dates on our weekly blog and also in our email earlier this week, we will be holding a 'Meet The Teacher' session next Tuesday, 4th July from 3pm to 4pm. This will be an opportunity for parents/carers and children to meet their new teacher that they will be with from September.

This event is for children in Reception up to and including Year 5. If your child is currently in Reception or Year 1, please collect them as normal at the end of the school day and then wait on the lower playground for your child's teacher to invite you in to the classroom.

If your child is currently in Year 2 to Year 5, again please collect them as normal at the end of the school day and then wait on the top playground for your child's teacher to invite you in to the classroom.

We hope you will be able to make it, as this will help with your child's transition up to the next year group.

We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

Non-uniform day Wednesday 5th July

Next Wednesday, the NHS celebrates its 75th birthday and I think you’ll all agree we are all very grateful for all their hard work with the many people they look after each and every day. There are a wide range of ways for you to get involved with the NHS’s 75th birthday celebrations, from attending events in your local area through to supporting the work of the NHS, for instance by giving blood or joining the NHS Organ Donor Register.

As a school, next Wednesday we are asking the children and staff to wear BLUE for the day for a donation which will be given to a local Doncaster charity - Eve Murton Dream Trust https://evestrust.co.uk/
- which donates the money raised to help create a dream or a grant a wish for both patients and families impacted by terminal cancer & serious cancer conditions. All donations can be sent into school on that day.

We are also looking for nominations of NHS staff in your family/friend circle or in your local community who you think would like to receive a special ‘birthday’ gift from school. If you have somebody in mind, please email their name and address to the office (admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk
) for them to receive this. Nominations need to be received by 12pm Monday 3rd July.

Isaac in Year 1 is a superstar angler! He loves going fishing with his dad and was recently involved in a fishing competition and was awarded with this fabulous trophy! Well done Isaac. It's lovely to see that you and your dad have something that you both enjoy that you can do together. We're sure it won't be long before you will be catching more fish than your dad!
