Harvest Festival Wednesday 19th October
We will be celebrating Harvest Festival at St Nicholas' Church on Wednesday 19th October. The staff and children from Years 1 to 6 will be walking to the church, setting off from school that morning straight after the class registers have been taken. If you would like to join us and walk to the church and back with the children, please let school know by Wednesday 12th October. If you bring your child to school, please let your child's class teacher know that you are available to join us. Otherwise, please ring the school office on 01302 710721 or email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk to let us know you are available.
News from Year 3/4
This week the children in Year 3/4 have been completing a maths investigation using the following information:
Tim had nine cards, each with a different number from 1 to 9 on it.
He put the cards into three piles so that the total in each pile was 15.
How could he have done this?
The children have been working collaboratively and using their addition skills to find as many solutions as possible for the investigation.
Some children quickly found solutions but were challenged to find a solution where there were 3 in digits in each pile to add.
Children recognised that they could make number bonds to 10 and number bonds to 5 which helped find solutions. They also found that more solutions were possible if they swapped the digit 5 for 2 numbers which add to 5.
The vocabulary used, the collaboration and the hard work from all of the children was fantastic
PTA film nights
Please see below details of 2 film nights which our PTA will be holding in October. The films that will be shown are on the posters. Further details to follow shortly.
