Stars of the week

Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them.

Foundation

Matthew - for being a superstar at joining in with RWI, Sports Day Practise and ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ activites.

Jessica - for having super concentration and creative ideas when she has been working with Mrs Brindley in the cutting and sticking area.

1/2A Mrs Davies

Isaac - for always being an absolute joy to be around! Isaac is such a positive person who is so supportive towards all his friends and adults in school. I'm so lucky to have him in my class!

Evelyn - for always having such a positive attitude towards her learning. Evelyn embraces challenges, even when she finds them tricky and is a true inspiration to everybody in school.

1/2B Miss Cruickshanks

Leo C - For really applying himself to his learning and for having a fantastic attitude and positive approach to all he does.

Noah D - For returning to school after half term with a huge positive shift in his attitude to learning. You have made me and all of the staff so proud. Keep it up!

1/2C Mrs Birkinshaw/Mrs Taylor

Ella  - What an absolute superstar!  She copes incredibly well with all the challenges she faces within her learning and she does so with a huge smile on her face!  Also, she has been incredibly thoughtful recently about our planet and school environment and she has started to take part in litter picking in ger own time - thank you!

Robyn - has been amazing this week.  She's had an amazing attitude towards her learning, especially in her maths.  She has shown such determination and resilience to complete her work to a high standard - well done!

3/4A Mrs Wood & 3/4B Mrs Perry - due to being at Austerfield, Mrs Wood and Mrs Perry's Stars of the Week for this week will be shared next week.

5/6A Miss Dunn

This week's theme has been on positivity; we have been looking for those children who have a positive outlook and have been learning how to turn our worries into positives. Year 5/6A Stars of the Week have been chosen with this in mind.

Jacob - Jacob comes into the class every day with a smile on his face and he always has a positive outlook; he approaches all challenges with optimism and enthusiasm and is not deterred when he encounters a problem. He reacts positively to feedback on his work, from peers and adults, and is not phased by constructive criticism on how to improve.

Noah - Noah is always smiling and this makes us smile too. He has a positive approach to all situations and is not phased when he finds something difficult or encounters a problem. Noah reacts positively to feedback from adults and his peers and he always acts upon it to make improvements.

5/6B Mrs Pickersgill/Mrs Walker

Leo - Leo is developing his resilience and understands that he can learn from his mistakes. He has a positive attitude towards learning and he takes onboard both positive and negative feedback to help him improve.

Ophelia - Ophelia is not deterred by setbacks and learns lessons from her mistakes. She always has a positive attitude towards her learning and always tries her best. She does not let things worry her; she takes everything in her stride.

Bikes/Scooters

As we head into the Summer months, it has been lovely to see that more children are arriving at school on scooters and bikes which are then stored in our bike shed on the playground. This is just a general reminder, that due to many health and safety concerns, that they are not allowed to ride these once entering the school grounds. They must walk them to the bike shed. This is to ensure there are no incidents or accidents with other children or parents on site. There has been an incident this week where a child needed first aid due to a collision with a bike.

Please ensure this reminder is discussed with your child, and if this rule is not followed, unfortunately they will be asked to no longer bring it on to the school site.

Thanks for your support and cooperation regarding this.

Please return any school books

As we move ever closer towards the end of the school year, could we please ask that parents/carers have a good look at home and return any school reading books please (including Read Write Inc books). If you do find any, please return them to your child's class teacher before the end of term.

Sponsored Read 12th to 16th June

To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a sponsored read from Monday 12th June to Friday 16th June.

The project is being organised in conjunction with our local Usborne Partner, ‘Jessica's World Of Books’, and all the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school.

Our target is to raise £600 in sponsor money, with Usborne donating an additional £360 of books for free. This will give us a total of £960 to spend on new books and resources for our children.

Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by encouraging your child to spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read books, comics, magazines, newspapers, menus, websites, recipes, poems, leaflets, instructions – anything with words!

If you are able to support our sponsored read, a sponsorship form and reading log will be coming home with your child on Monday.

Please hand any money raised into the office by the 21st June.

We look forward to having lots more books for your child to read, share and enjoy.

Change of PE Days for Year 3/4

From next week (week commencing 12th June), Year 3/4's PE days will be Tuesdays and Fridays.

Year 5 swimming next week

Could the Year 5 children please bring a pair of pyjamas with their swimming kit next week. They will need long bottoms and a long sleeved top, as they will be doing survival skills.

Consent Forms and Regular Visit Forms

The children from Reception to Year 5 will be bringing home a couple of forms next week which we would like completing and returning to school as soon as possible please. These forms will then be used for the next school year.

One of the forms is our consent form - this form asks for your consent for photos, internet use, fruit (for Foundation and Key Stage 1) and plasters.

The other form is a Local Visit consent form, which provides consent for the chidlren to go on organised walks in the local area (to church, local library etc).

There will be a prize for the class who hands all their forms in first, all correctly completed. Good luck!

Mrs Wood's (Year 3/4A) class assembly Monday 12th June

Mrs Wood's class would like to invite their parents/carers into school for their assembly this coming Monday, 12th June. The assembly will start at 10.15am, so if you can make it please ensure you arrive at the school office in plenty of time to sign in.

The theme of the assembly is 'Austerfield' and some children will be showing some examples of work that they have done and talking about what they have enjoyed.

We look forward to seeing you then.

Summer Fair Planning Meeting Tuesday 13th June 3pm

Our PTA has organised a Summer Fair planning meeting next Tuesday 13th June from 3pm to 3.45pm. The meeting will be held in school and children are very welcome to come along with their parents if this makes it easier for you to attend. Please see the message below from Kirsty Ellis, our PTA Chair.

We are looking for volunteers for our Summer Fair being held on Thursday 22nd June from 3pm-5pm. We would be very grateful if people could help set up the event, run a stall for 30 minutes, and/or clean up afterwards. The more volunteers we have, the less everyone has to do, and the more time people can spend with their own children!! If you can spare some time, no matter how little, please come along to our planning meeting and offer your support.

If you can't make the meeting but would like to be put down to help, please contact PTA via their Facebook page, or tell the school office.

Thanks in advance, PTA

Our children were amazing as always and had fantastic fun - their team spirit shone through and they were a credit to their families and to our school.
