Attendance
Every week in our Celebration Assembly, we celebrate the class who has achieved the highest attendance for that week. This week Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 ALL had the highest attendance with 100%! We think that this is the first time in a long time that 3 classes have shared this success, so well done to all 3 classes!
Please see below for the attendance figures for this week. The target attendance for all children is currently set at 97%.
Nursery - 96.05%
Reception - 100%
Year 1 Mrs Singh - 100%
Year 2 Mrs Davies - 100%
Year 3 Miss Scott - 97.77%
Year 4 Mrs Wood - 94.71%
Year 5 Mrs Pickersgill - 96.43%
Year 6 Miss Dunn - 90.48%
Celebrating fantastic attendance!
The children are speeding along now with gathering all the letters from the word MAYFLOWER! As you are aware, each class with 100% attendance on a particular day will receive one letter from the word MAYFLOWER to put on their classroom door. Once a class has spelt out the word MAYFLOWER, a member of the class will bring all their letters down to the office to claim their prize from our box of Awesome Attendance Activities!
Please see below where each class stands at the end of today:

We look forward to handing out more prizes after the Easter break.
Stars of the week
Each week in our Friday Celebration Assembly, we celebrate our stars of the week. Each class teacher chooses 2 children from their class each week who have really impressed them. Please see below for who has been chosen this week, together with the reason for them being chosen.
Nursery & Reception
Reception - Aliza-Mae for being a superstar in maths this week. She has worked really hard to demonstrate all the number bonds to 5 and is even helping her friends to do the same.
Nursery - Jessica for being great at doing jobs and being a really responsible member of the class.
Year 1
This week, Mrs Singh has picked all her pupils as her Stars of the Week / Term, as a way of saying a big thank you for being such a wonderful class. It has been a true privilege and honour to teach every single one of you! It has been amazing to watch you grow, flourish and accomplish so much, since September. I hope you have enjoyed your time learning with me, as much as I have with you all! Keep achieving the best you can and I look forward to hearing about all your progression! Wishing you all the best of luck, I will truly miss you all.
Year 2
Annie W - Annie is always ready to learn, always kind to her peers, always respectful to all adults. In short, she is ALWAYS amazing!
Laroti - Laroti is always contributing to the lessons, always looking out for his peers and being a good friend, always kind and respectful. In short, he is a joy to have in our class.
Year 3
Lily E: Lily is always kind, always respectful and always works hard. I can always rely on Lily to set a good example and be a good role model to not only the children in our class but other children in school. Well done Lily!
Noah: Noah always goes above and beyond what is expected of him. He always works hard and is always kind and respectful. Noah is a brilliant role model to others. Well done Noah!
Year 4
Sophia B - Sophia is one of the children in class who always follows our school rules. She works hard in every lesson and always tries her best. Sophia is always determined to do her best work and has shown this with hours of additional work on her Maths story.
Ariana - Ariana always works hard in class and shares her ideas with other children. She is a kind partner and always supports other children when they need help. Ariana is a caring friend who looks out for other children and the adults in class too.
Year 5
We have had a fabulous term in Year 5 and all the children deserve recognition for their hard work. I would like to mention, in particular, our Stars of the Half Term:
Esme - Esme has been an absolute delight this term; she is always kind, always respectful and she always tries her best. She is a fantastic role model to others. She has made fantastic progress in all areas of her learning this term and she should be extremely proud of herself! Well done Esme, keep up the hard work!
Kaylan - Kaylan was new to our school in September and what a fantastic addition he has been. He works hard in every lesson and shows real determination to improve his learning. He is able to listen to and act on advice in order to ensure that he is being the best that he can be. Kaylan is always polite and well-mannered and he is an excellent role model for other children. Well done Kaylan, keep up the hard work!
Year 6
As we approach the end of spring term, we have been focussing on our 'always children' in each class - those children who always follow the school rules and always set a good example for the other children to follow. This week's Stars of the Week in Year 6 have been chosen with this in mind.
Brione - Brione is an excellent role model in Year 6. She is always kind to everyone; she always shows respect to all children and adults and in every single lesson, she works hard and tries her absolute best. Brione shows integrity all the time in school - her behaviour is exemplary and she really is a pleasure to have in class every day. Thank you for being you.
Carson - Carson is a positive role model in Year 6 every day. He shows respect to his peers and to all adults and behaves in an exemplary way for whichever adult is in the room. He is kind to everyone - even when they may not be as kind to him. He pushes himself in every single lesson to do the very best that he can and he is always striving to do better and be better. You are an absolute joy to have in class Carson.
Headteacher Award
Each week in our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Powell chooses someone who has really impressed her during the week and presents them with her Headteacher Award trophy.
It is a special week this week as it is the end of term, and I simply couldn’t choose a superstar award … so I have chosen two! My first award this week goes to Martha in Year 2 for her super attitude towards all that she does in school. She has made such amazing progress in her phonics work (that blew Mrs Davies’s socks off!) but we have also seen her grow so much in positivity and attitude to her learning.
My second award goes to Elodie in Year 5. Her performance in the Read Aloud competition last night was simply breath-taking. Without any nerves, she read the whole story opening without a script! The first to do it out of all the finalists there! Wow! We are all so proud of you and the confidence you showed to everyone!
Makaton Sign Of The Week
The children have recently started learning Makaton's 'Sign of the week' each week. Each Monday, the children learn the new sign for that week. We thought it would be useful to share the following week's sign with parents/carers on our Friday blog so you can get involved too if you wish. Please click on the link below to see the sign that the children will be learning next week.

Goodbye and good luck!
Today we said goodbye to Mrs Singh, who is leaving us to go on maternity leave and won't be returning afterwards as Mrs Birkinshaw will be returning to us at the end of the Summer Term.
It has been an absolute pleasure to have Mrs Singh as part of our Mayflower family. She settled straight in with us and has made a real impact on staff and children alike - her class absolutely adore her! We celebrated Mrs Singh in our celebration assembly this morning and the children sang a beautiful rendition of 'Baby Singh' (to the tune of Baby Shark!). We will really miss you Mrs Singh and wish you all the best for the coming months. Please come back and visit us and please bring your little one to meet us all.
Mrs Singh has shared with us some thoughts on her time here at Mayflower.
I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to everyone here at Bawtry Mayflower Primary School. It has been a true pleasure to work with and support all Staff, Governors, Parents, children and families at this wonderful school. It has been so rewarding to practise my teaching at a school that is so highly dedicated in ensuring that every child is valued, supported and inspired throughout all their years of learning and beyond. So thank you for being so welcoming and wishing everyone all the best for the future!

Raffles in school
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated prizes, purchased raffle tickets or joined in with our Easter bonnet competition over the last few weeks. With your support, we have raised the following:
Easter Bonnet Compeition - £68
World Book Day Raffle - £50
Easter Egg Raffle - £375.30
This will go towards a revamp of our Early Years Foundation outdoor areas.
More special visitors in school
Yesterday, we had some really special visitors in school. Mrs Ronan, along with her mum and dad came into school and brought some of their sheep and lambs to visit us! The lambs were under a week old and were very cute! Each class got the opportunity to meet the sheep and their little ones and got to stroke the lambs if they wanted to. One of the lambs even fell asleep as it was being stroked!
Thank you so much to Mrs Ronan, her mum and dad for bringing the sheep and lambs in for us and for giving up their time for our children. We really do appreciate it and know that this will be a very special memory for our children to look back on.
News from Year 2
In Science, Year 2 have been learning about materials. The challenge they had was 'Can you make a container for an egg which will protect it when it drops from a height of 1m?' 3 of the 5 containers were successful! Team work makes the dream work! Science is fun!
Recognition Board Success
Congratulations to the children below who have received their Recognition badges from Mrs Powell recently. They all got their names under all 3 categories on the Recognition board - Work Hard, Be Kind and Be Respectful. Well done everyone!
If your child has been awarded with their Recognition Badge recently and hasn't yet appeared on one of our Friday blogs, please email admin@bawtrymayflower.doncaster.sch.uk and we will make sure we celebrate their success on one of our future blogs.
Sporting Superstar!
Harry in Year 4 was presented with a Club Doncaster Foundation t-shirt recently, for being another of their Sporting Superstars. Well done Harry!
Congratulations!
Logan in Year 3 was recently awarded 'Player of the Week' for his football team. In addition to this, Logan also scored another goal for his team. Wow Logan! What a fantastic week you had at football! We know you take part in extra football training too, so all your hard work is really paying off. Well done!
Thomas in Year 1 has recently been presented with a couple of certificates in his swimming lessons, including his Stage 6 certificate. That's amazing Thomas - you must be a fantastic swimmer to have already received your Level 6 certificate! You should be really proud of yourself.
It's been a week for our swimming stars in Year 1, as Blu-Belle has recently been awarded with a certificate for swimming on her back with one float. As if that wasn't enough, Blu-Belle also recently received a certificate and medal from her gymnastics club for bar work.
Well done Blu-Belle - you're certainly very busy and working extremely hard to have been awarded these certificates and medals. We can't wait for you to share your next success with us in the near future.
Mia in Year 1 was recently awarded a certificate for being recognised as 'Dancer of the Week' at her dance school. We know how much you love your dancing Mia and know how much effort you put into your dancing, so this recognition is truly deserved. Well done!
Some of our Year 6 children play for Bawtry Junior FC U11's Team, and recently competed in the Quarter-finals of the Doncaster & District Trophy for 2023 - 2024 and won. They are now through to the semi-finals in a few weeks time, so we will keep you posted with how they progress. Well done so far U11's - you have achieved great things so far and we're sure you can go all the way! Whatever the outcome, your team spirit and positivity shines through.
Henry in Year 1 has recently started Taekwondo lessons and was awarded with a certificate for 'Being Brave'. We are so proud of you Henry. It takes a lot to start a new club with different children and adults that you're perhaps not familiar with and we're glad that you are enjoying your Taekwondo sessions.
Henry told us that he enjoys his sessions so much that "even when my foot hurt I kept on going". Fantastic determination Henry!
Thank You
We would like to say a huge thank you to our cook, Mrs Stanfield, who made some lovely Easter themed biscuits today for the children to enjoy at lunchtime. Not only were they fantastic to look at, they tasted absolutely amazing! Not that we're surprised, as everything that Mrs Stanfield makes for us is out of this world! Thank you to you and your team for everything you do Mrs Stanfield - we really do appreciate it.
